Jaheira and the Harpers - why no interaction?
Jaheira and the Harpers - why no interaction?
I have just read that Jaheira is meant to have various interactions with the Harpers, but none of these have happened even though she has always been in my party. Bug, or have I not done something to trigger these? Hope someone can help.

Are you romancing her? That makes a difference in how the quests play out. SPOILERS

;They begin the first time you try to travel outside of Athkatla. You've receive a mini-quest to return a poisoned Harper back to the Harper Hideout in the docks district. Then you'll get a quest from Xzar, who is standing at the base of steps leading down to the bottom area of the docks. If you complete Xzar's quest, then you start to get a string of events about your party's interaction with the Harpers.
If you've been playing the game for some time after completing Xzar's quest, and you still haven't had any of the other Harpers quests, you may have one of the manymanymanymanymany bugs associated with Jaheira and the Harpers, which seem to be a much bigger problem if you're actually romancing her, but can exist even if you are not.
There is some discussion of this problem on several different threads. If you're having the same problem I was, you may find the answers you're looking for at http://www.gamebanshee.com/ubb/Forum2/HTML/002345.html

Thanks for the info & link - looks like I'm not the only one!!!
I have done the locket & Xsar but like others that's where the Harper involvement ends - no ambushes etc.
I see that there are 'technical'ways to get things going again but I don't really know about these so I guess I shall have to hope that things work out next time I play (if I ever finish this game - it is MASSIVE and at present very damaging to my marriage!).
If anyone has any other tips please let me know. Cheers.

Don't get frightened off by the "technical" fixes. They're not as tough as they sound. Shadowkeeper is very easy to use, and CLUA is no sweat if find the codes (usually clear from the threads). I'd hate to think you were missing out on something cool just because you were nervous about using these tools. You really should download Shadowkeeper. Even if you're not planning on using cheats, it's good to have when the game glitches up (which it does) or when you make a simple mistake with terrible consequences ("Where'd I put that key, again?"). Here's the link:

Bubba says, "Check it out."

Thanks again - I shall check out Shadowkeeper/the 'technical' options mentioned, sounds like even I could use them!
Has this issue been raised with Black Isle because its a shame to put a lot of effort into the game (on their & our part) but for it not to work for so many people. Presumably they think a new patch isn't worth their time but its no good putting something like this in if it doesn't work half the time.
Admittedly this appears to be the only bug that I have come across (and I only found this by accident while looking at part of the walkthrough)- are there any others which need to be fixed? If there are enough bugs perhaps we should all encourage Black Isle to issue a new patch.
Anyone got any details/opinions?

It seems from reading other threads that in some cases at least, you can end up waiting forever for the ambush / jaheira to continue the romance - you've obviously been lucky or clever, Ripper!
There either seems to be a bug or a very strict way in which you need to do things for it all to go smoothly. As yet there are ares where I have not yet been so maybe visiting these and resting until healed may trigger events (I followed the main story & am now catching up on lots of quests eg I still haven't done windspear/druid grove/trademeet, for example)
Re my earlier question, does anyone have any other bugs/problems - if there are a lot we should all try to contact Black Isle & suggest they issue a new patch. The last one I have found is Nov 2000. I assume there aren't any more recent ones.
