I Need Help, Please (Getting to Arindale)

Post by DungeonSteve »

I've been going throughout the game with the use of the walkthroughs, and they are really well done. I've been stuck at a certain part for about a week now. I can't figure out what I do after the First Fargrove visit. I'm on my way to Ardindale and at the end of the road in the Elven Lands is a castle... they tell me they won't let me in without the "official written letter of Elven Council?" So I run around there for hours and can't go anywhere. I've already been in the Rolen Fields. Any clues where I go next? Also I think you guys should post a map how to walk to Ardindale.

Thanks a bunch

This is covered in the elven lands overview section.

SWC
Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

You need to visit the asian house in Arindale, which will start a quest. You probably did that, and next pay a visit to Arindale Inn, there is someone waiting there...

Gall, he cant get to Arindale, so how could he visit the Asian House?

He needs to get a divine mark of Ordained Favor. As SWC said, this is covered in the walkthrough....

Ah, i see. Collectors Edition .. In my game the only, populated, castle was Ulm, :( which would make it hard to miss Arindale, looking at the route.

Not sure what the problem might be. You might need to give us some more info. The first time you talk to the king he tells you to go upstairs and talk to 2 people about where his daughter might be. After you talk to them return to the king and this is when he gives you the orders to leave fargrove. Did you do that? Check in your inventory under letters and see if you have davenmore's orders. D

Only one door will be open, the one to your left just to the king's right. D

How do you get into Arindale?

It won't let me in, how can I get it?
They tell me that only the council can give me permission, but I can't talk to them because they are inside!

You need to get "marked" by defeating the spectre at the island NW of the fortress, then climbing the tower and clicking the altar there. I've heard you can go around the long way too, through Talendor, but getting marked is far easier and convenient later. Besides, there is a shop in the fortress treehouse that you will need for potion resupplying once you start the quest in Arindale that temporarily shuts down the apothecary.

Does anyone have any help that could get me to the top of the ladder so that I can get "marked"?

It sounds like you're playing an urgoth. There's a bug in the game, and urgoths can't fit through the trap door. If you do a search on "urgoth" you'll find a way around the problem. Otherwise you'll just have to skip the fortress and skirt around to the north through Talendor.

This is the one case where I would say use a saved file editor (like Steve2D's that is stickied). For overcoming bugs - that's a very annoying one.

Island Tower should get you through.

I read in one of the walkthroughs that you could kill the banshee on the Island in the lake north of the gates to Arindale. Once you kill the banshee you can get to the top of the tower and open somehing/ meet someone up there that would give you a mark of some sort to get you past the gates. (Sorry can't recall all the exact names! ) Unfortunately I can't confirm because although Ive killed the banshee (or maybe spectre?) I'm an Urgoth fighter and can't seem to squeeze my fat butt through the opening at the top!!! :(
Good Luck!

There ARE maps available, particularly the world map. Go back to the crossroads west of Fargrove and continue north, bearing left past the Candle Shrine Tower. Continue north through a very narrow passage towards Talendor and bear left towards Lost Lake (might as well swim to the NW side of the large island and enter the island, kill a moonbeast and pick up its moonstone).

South of the large island is a swampy area. West of that is a river south towards Arindale (walk there on west side of river). All the way west and south are the firedragon spawning grounds (dragon eggs).
