I know, but I figured a link about dear Marie and her unfortunate demise added flavour to the general context :D

Back on topic, Im indiferent to the hole thing so im not voting, I wouldnt mind having one, but I cant think of one. It would allow people to be unique, just like every body else.

Top Gun, good movie. I bought it for my dad a couple years ago for his birthday but he never watches it. :(

Not to seem off-topic  but i've used User Titles before on other forums, and i love them, almost as good as a reputation system. *nudge nudge*

If you mean a reputation system as in being able to rank members.. I'd say definitely not. The idea here is to create more of an equal playing field, and something like member ratings only causes hurt feelings IMO ;)

Now that you mention that, i have to agree, i got into an argument with a highly ranked member, and he just kept giving me negative rep, even though i was being respectful. He won.

Personally - I don't care about custom titles from my point of view. I didn't even take one back when there was the subscription thingy eventhough I could have, where you could select title.

However, one thing, if this should ever be implemented, I'd strongly fight against it being based on post-count.

However, this is fully up to Buck, so perhaps somebody should write him (once) about the issue explaining their opinion in a clear cut manner. But I'd think he is rather bussy expanding the site at the moment, so I wouldn't hold my breath for such actions to be taken soonish (however, stranger things have happened).
That was very similar to what we had with the subscription. I think, ultimately, it became too much of a headache for Buck to administrate, or something like that. Plus, it wasn't bringing in the hoped for revenue, as I recall.
Somebody who knows more about this, please correct me if I'm mistaken.

I suspect that making the ads universal brings in a lot more cash... I might be wrong though.
Yes, the subscriptionplan did not bring in requiered revenue compared to what it cost in ressources to run, so it was cancelled instead, but the titles stayed on people.
