Lower Dorns Deep

Post by tiredparent »

I have just finished Worms Tooth Glacier. When I try to enter Lower Dorns Deep, from the little outside area accessed from the cave in the N/E, the game crashes (ie completely kicked out and program terminated) just after autosave. The message that appears is, "An assertion failed in Infinty.cpp at line 1763. Programmer says: Demand for WED file failed." Any ideas......

BTW - I have tried it with and without the latest patch, with and without HoW installed, with and without TotL installed, updating my sound and video card drivers....

I'm starting to wonder if it's an XP thing.....

You have a bug seemingly specific to the UK version of the game.

Download the special UK patch here. I'm not sure whether the UK patch requires any special installation order - e.g. if you have to deinstall HoW and TotL first. Better safe than sorry, I suppose, so the install order would be IWD, then the UK patch, then HoW, and finally TotL.

The patch won't actually work with a saved game unless it has a chance to reload the map where the problem occurs by re-referencing the now-patched game data. So, load a saved game prior to the little map with the cave entrances - the autosave just before leaving the Wyrm's Tooth map will suffice.

It worked! Nice one Aerich! One thing - I followed the load order you suggested but the same thing happened. I then reloaded the patch and all was well. Thanks again, big time!
PS I guess this thread is over....
