Problems actually completing the quest to defeat Dagoth Ur (Possible spoiler)

Get righ to it...

I've just defeated DAgoth Ur, killed him before he fell in the lava.
He's dead - bang.

Subsequently when I go up to Vivec he just carries on with the procedure for defeating Dagoth Ur. I have received no acknowledgement or acclaim for my slaying of Dagoth Ur from anyone...

Formerly I just thought - well that's that - it is a pretty open game after all...
But today I read a post about receving a deadric armor from Vivec after defeating DAgoth Ur. Well - there was no armor, the fact that I've completed the main quest and killed Dagoth Ur has simply not registered in the game.

So - am I lacking something here? Something that must still be done?
What can I do?

In the first place what way you had left the place. You were supposed to meet Azura, your in fact real MQ giver and patron, just in the next room. That event, IMHO, marks the quest done, not meeting Vivec, you even may not ever care to meet him.

Do not leave the chamber by divine intervention. Leave manually, meet Azura, before using teleportation spells.

Then go out the way you came in and speak to Azura.

I managed to screw up both the Morrowind and Tribunal quests. Morrowind - used recall in the chamber... Tribunal... went to Vivec rather than Mournhold...

Yep! I used recall...

Damn, all these years... I've always felt there was something missing...a void in my heart...a thorne in my shoe...the faint cry of the yellow-golden cat.

Oh yes, to be sure...the lack of sweet accreditus from a gray, half-naked, hovering, pixelized elf(/swamp)-thing has always been a source of disillusionment for me.

Ah well! I guess I'll just reenter the dungeon and speak to Azura.
