anyone know where i can find the 3rd edition rules online? i want to read more about multi classing....i know with the old rules you would loose stuff..... thx for the help

Check out the [url="http://www.wizards.com/dnd/article.asp?x=dnd/er/er20011014a"]Wizards of the Coast D&D3 Rules FAQ[/url] and go to page 16 for the multiclass section. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to download the FAQ.

The biggest differences are 1) multi-classing and dual-classing are no longer dependent on race, 2) there are no predetermined class combinations and 3) the introduction of character levels and class levels.

I like the D&D3 rules for multi-classing sooooooooooo much better than the old AD&D and AD&D 2nd Edition rules. It was the absolutely horrid class and (lack of) skills rules that caused me to leave AD&D for other RPG systems. Now that the d20 system is being used for Star Wars too, I may find myself coming back to D&D3.
