How does the "drainlife" skill work? I have made it to warlord status (am level 20 char), and have a "drainlife" level of 8. I don't seem to be able to get any life from anything I fight.
I am also now fighting the Nauseleum for the 5th time and cannot kill him. I have hit him with the 'Rod of Divinity', and I saw his health go to the yellow level once. Another big problem is I am out of health potions and my celestial health spell doesn't bring back much life.
I have tried to use the sanctuary rune spell, but I only have one spell, and it doesn't last long. I have tried casting nether spells to distract him, but nothing I try to conjure will appear (I can invoke some snakes from a bracelet I have).
I noticed that if I exit to my stats/char/or save game I can regain health, but the Nauseleum seems to regain it also.
Any help would be appreciated, even if it is to tell me that I should have been better prepared and am now outta luck.
I have noticed that the "drainlife" is working on ME....since I can't kill this guy!!!
"drain life" warlord and Nauseleum
Drain Life only works with magic weapons and spells. If you're just using an ordinary weapon, it won't do anything. Celestial spells will do more if you put more points into the celestial magic skill.
Have you tried using the rod of divinity on Nauselom? It was way effective when I used it in the CE.

Sir Edmund: "Should you obey the lord who asks you to put a village of innocents to the torch? Is that chivalrous? Is it noble?"
Me: "It's a great way to get promoted, I know that much."

What kind o shield do you have? I had the relic shield and I just stood at the tip of one of the pentagram points and everything he shot at me reflected and hit him, the things he summoned could not hit me either. The rod of divinity should work pretty well on him, have you checked your magic weapons skill? It may work better for you, if you were to boost it a bit.
I presume you mean you have Warlock not a Warlord.
One thing is clear, if he is regaining health and you have the rod of divinity, then you have not striked him with it yet. He cannot regain health if you have done this. Do you have any Spells of Divine Intervention and at least 9 points into Celestial Magic? If so, use this. It will make a big difference. Also, you say that your nether summoning spells don't work. Do you have enough points in Nether Magic? Your skill level needs to at least equal the level of the spell you are casting. If you only have a few points in drain life you won't see much of a difference, even if you use magic. You are also probably suffering a major penalty using the rod of divinity because you don't have points in heavy pole arm. I think this weapon requires 7 points in this skill to avoid this. With no health potions and the penalties you are in dire straits with the weapon approach. 10 potions and you won't have any problem using this strategy. The fact that you don't have any potions is telling me that there is some kind of problem with your character development too. My war witch just retired with well over a 1000 potions in her inventory. I've never been in a situation with any character where I ran out of potions. Do you pick all of them up? Finally, are you playing on easy, normal or difficult setting? This makes a huge difference on high level monsters. Or, do you have a save game that you can return to in the shadow realm that you can use to mine for more health potions before moving forward? Good luck.
If worse comes to worst you can download the trainer found in one of these threads and change some stats for a bit or add potions, but I seriously don't recommend this at all. It will truly spoil the game for you on your first go around.
PS You should have a lot of points in Arcane magic if you are running a Warlock and should be using all your magic spells on him before meleing with this guy. You shouldn't be focusing on nether or celestial. You don't have the armor to fight him. You probably don't have enough points in dexterity or agility either for melee. I would recommend at least 50 for Nausolom.

Yes, I meant Warlock, oops......
I am using a large Ice sword that I love, in combination with a smaller ice sword in my off hand. I started off as a fighter/marauder/battlemage.
I have really regretted giving up the shield relic, I think I should have held onto that, that reflection ability is great!
I am afraid I am going to have to start over. I have over written all my saves outside the pentagram fighting area (not too smart, I know).
At least now I know to up my celestial magic, rune levels for more "sanctuary" useage, put more points into my pole skills (only at 2 right now), dexterity and agility.
And thanks everyone for your help. These forums have been a big help to me. I will try the suggestions.
I have considered going for War Witch instead of Warlock, or maybe Ranger Lord, that "hawkeye" sounds pretty interesting.
Frodo, Did you enjoy playing as a War Witch?

I love the witch over the warlock. And, if you have to restart, then that is part of the game too. To make a better character, that is. I would seriously avoid using a ranged character though. It just sucks, even with hawkeye.
Please run your ideas by the forum before you start your next character. I'm sure you'll get some great feedback.
