[QUOTE=Ravager]Hiya Kip! :)

Well, that's only because I haven't had vacations since my last visit ;)

Things are going okay. Got moved to new base two weeks ago, and now I'm living in big cave-base... not so fun base to live, actually...

So, how are things going there??

Well, yeah, I thought that was the reason. :p
It just seemed a while since the last vacation.

A cave-base, eh? Sounds...different. :p

Oh, I have quite a lot of work to get done this week, then I have three weeks off, soon after that I have exams and then I'm finished for the year. Probably another 5-month break... :o
I helped set up a forum with Slade (Nexus in my sig) and I'm just looking through webcomics. That's about it...I think.

@Rav

Yes, it's quite different... one guy got sick right after the transfer, and yesterday was the first day he saw sun in two weeks...

Oh Kipi, that does not sound pleasant. Means you got the posting you wanted, though, doesn't it? I remember you said the navy were trained underground

What to do you like best to eat in the relatively fancy meal arena?

Yup, that's right :D
And I have only stand that place three weeks more, after that I get transfered again to a base near my home... :)

After spending 5 days in forrest I'm not able to give any good answered to that question ;) :D :o

Ahh, the whole sensory-deprivation thing then. Not nice. :(

That's not so bad. Is the new base above ground? Hope so!

What? You sit in the army and you don't fantasise about decent dinners? I have said it before Kipi, but you are really quite odd :D

@ Rav. Help me out here. I have people coming for a long boozy lunch tomorrow and I want to make it good. But I am struggling for a menu and I want to shop today. What would you like to be fed, given a free choice?

Yep, no more caves :D :D

That wasn't what I meant. I meant that since the food in forrest isn't that good, any even "decent" food may sound and taste extremely good at this moment... ;)

Ahh, I assumed you were just interested in the army fed its recruits these days. :p
Though that'd probably be bad MRE's...
Um, as for myself, well, I'm not going to be that much more help than Kipi. I'm a very fussy eater and only like a few things. :p
Can't you go with a salad, that's the kind of thing that ususally does well, right?

Yay for the end of spelunking :D

Oh, I see. No luck :(

@ Rav. Salad ! I think you forget I am in Glasgow. Glasgwegians don't eat green things, any more than Beau Brummell :p All vegetable matter has to be carefully disguised. We are not the unhealthiest people in the world for nothing, you know

See? I'm no good at this! :D
And how would I know what Glasweigans eat? I only know that they drink lots of Irn-Bru. :p ;)

In Australia, if there is a public barbecue, there is one rule. The woman makes the salad, the man cooks the meat. If the man makes the salad, he is basically arrested, locked up, and forced to act like a woman. If a woman cooks the meat, the meat is taken, and the woman has her gas bottle confiscated.

Hi DJ.

A barbecue is not really an option, for reasons which will no doubt occur to you

What do you like to eat over a long afternoon devoted to food and drink if you can have anything?

Hi Kipi, glad to hear that you're getting a transfer, hope it all works out :) .

@Fiona: Well, normally at nighttime things, we have the barbecue. But during the day, when it's hot, then we normally have a cold lunch, such as salad, as mentioned, but then cold meat, and some seafood... prawns are always good.

I expect there's a slew of connected barbequeing cliches connected too... :p

@ All.

How would this strike you? (I know some of you have irrational prejudice against mushrooms, but try to set that aside)

Mushroom lasagne with basil and cream

Lamb chops with mint and feta cheese. Accompanied by stuffed aubergines (do you think cinnamon and mint will fight?)

White chocolate mousse with cardamom?

Is this going to be too creamy (bearing in mind I need ballast for the booze)?
