Unhappy player needs HELP

Post by unhappy player »

My CD4 is not readable for certain critical maps (entrance to the Underdark), I now have the critical maps (*.bif)form a friend and thought I could just trow them in Cache\data.. No luck. The game insist reading from the CD. I have tried CLUA console and whatnot... SO the question boils down to: "how do I access the AR****.bif which is not readable from the CD"
I have places to go
and things to kill

If your CD4 is damaged, won't Bioware replace it? (Assuming it arrived damaged)

Try either Interplay or the store were you buy the game for replacing the damaged CD.
- Waterdeep city constrution.

- Shadowdale low level adventure module.

- Rashmare /Thay high level adventure module.

...Well.. BGII was a present from a friend and since we don't exchange receipts when giving presents I can not make a claim in the store where it was bought. Interplay is ever so happy to replace... IF i enclose a 5$ check... OUTrageous.. becauce the game is bought and payed for.. and because the CD was damaged when it arrived, never got beyond chapter 4.
NOW I got the damaged files..how do I access them.?

There are others here (on this forum) from Sweden. Perhaps you could borrow CD4, do a full install (if you have enough disk space), return the CD and then, AHHKKKK, start over??? Image

With a full install you only need CD2(?) to play.

'Course I don't know how much mail (post) costs there but it's got to be faster and cheaper (maybe) than the Interplay option.

Why would a restart be necessary after a full install? Wouldn't it be possible to simply save the game, store the files on floppy or elsewhere, and THEN do the full install?

Then simply load the game from the point you saved before discovering the faulty CD 4.

It's a bit of disgrace.. but I got a wonderful 2 GB harddisc which also happens to serv as workstation. uninstalling all the Microsoft wonderware and the illegal? Napster may leave just enough room for a full install.. But I doubt it. in the end... if no solution pops up, I'll just have to trespass the copyrights that protects BGII and make a copy of a functional disk. Until that happens, I am still interested in accessing Area 1800 and 2100... places to go and things to kill

it's a shot in the dark but try putting them in the overrides file, it just might work

OOPPPPSSSS, mea culpa. Deleting the game and reinstalling doesn't wipe your save games! At least it didn't in BG I. Image

... yes savegames are maintained during uninstall, but stach them somewhere else just in case...
Overrides file option: problem persisted.
I have now tried to copy the files (*.bif) to Cache\data, Temp and Overide with NO luck..
Guess I just have to lay my hands on a functional CD4..

Maybe its because my rep is around 6, am I to hideous to be allowed in the Underdark..?

for the look of utter despair and horror
on the face, as if they felt their very soul being drained and burnt before them.
