Charisma
Charisma
Why is charisma so important to sorcerors? I know they need a certain level of it to cast spells, but that seems to make no sense. I can understand wisdom or intelligence affecting it, but charisma? Just curious.
We should get a move on lest Boo bite us all in hard to reach places!
See battle Boo! Run, Boo, run!
See battle Boo! Run, Boo, run!
Sorcerers do not learn spells by study books like wizards, but are born with the ability to cast magic. Therefore they use charisma instead for intelligence. Thats also why they have fever spells, and are allowed to cast the spells they know more often.
HK-47: Can I break his neck now master? It's been a long time fantasy of mine...
Revan: Maybe later...
HK-47: Did you hear that meatbag? "I'LL BE BACK!"
Yuka Laka: Err, well... ah...

Dragon's Blood
Sorceror's are also thought to have a bit of dragon running through their veins. So if you're a sorceror then your great-great-great-great-great-great-great-grandmother banged a dragon. The dragon would have been in humanoid form I would imagine.

Fifteen birds in five firtrees,
Their feathers were fanned in a fiery breeze!
But, funny little birds, they had no wings!
O what shall we do with the funny little things?

JJComo got it right: Sorcerer are generelly thought of as having something in their blood (dragon, outsider etc ancestors) that enables them to cast spells.
If you think "charisma = good looks", then, yeah, it doesnt seem to make much sense.
Its easier to look at it from a "charisma = force of personality" angle; IIRC thats also the way its described in IWD2.
Basically, you could say sorcerors fuel their spellcasting with their souls instead of their intellects.
Now that I think of it, that seems to make them a bit similar to monks and their ki powers...
