This board is a No-man’s-land

Post by Kayless »

I’ve seen corpses more lively then this place... :(
Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

@Grunty, LMAO... :D :D :D

@Kayless, the reason why this board is sort of dead, is because there is not a whole lot of new stuff on PoR. The game has been delayed till September, so we can only hold on and wait... The activity on this board will most likely pick up when we get closer to the release date....

Besides, Pool of Radiance looks like dynamite. It's just about finished, and due for release in a few months. I think it'll be a hit.

@Fable, I have played parts of the game, and it indeed looks pretty promising. I have been surprised by the latest delay, as the game seemed pretty finished. The built that I have does have a couple of bugs, but that is to be expected.

Flagg: How much of your build have you gotten through? I haven't noticed any bugs either except some pathfinding AI ones :)

Both Flagg and I are using preview builds to write...well...previews :) (mine is from March because I didn't upgrade to a new one so I didn't lose any saved games). I'm not sure what build Flagg has. So not everyone can just get one. Sorry :)

The company that makes 'em hands 'em out to legit reviewers and beta-testers. Some developers are better about that than others--the Origin Systems folks, for instance, never gave out preview copies of their software.

You mean PoR, Ki-Master? What makes you say that? An empty topic category, created more than half a year before the game is released? Check back in late September, and we'll see what you think, then. :D

Hey guys,

I have been curious about becoming a Beta tester for a couple years now, but without success. How exactly do you get such an exalted position??? I have also been thinking about writing reviews, but my full time job pretty much prevents me from finishing most of the games I start!!! :( Very unhappy about the full-time job thing, by the way... :mad:

To become a beta-tester, you watch the company websites. Some of 'em will post when a product opens for limited beta-testing.

As to reviews, if you want to do it for free, just contact an appropriate site owner, who may agree to publish what you've got after they've read and edited it. If you want to make money, forget it. The market is almost broken, now, due to the failure of the online web advertising model, and a lack of good print mags. That may change in the future, but right now, you'd have a better chance of selling New Age journals to Pat Robertson. :(

Fable,

I've seen some listings looking for beta testers, and have applied... just never got a response. I'm sure everyone and their brother wants to beta test everything they can get their paws on!!!

Thanks for the info... Oh, and why are some people on here "Exalted" members??? Haven't figured that one out yet. :)
