Will I ever stop missing?

Post by Wooly »

My characters cant hit anything. They are fighting monsters and the misses just keep piling up. miss, Miss, MISS! It is really frustrating. The monsters seem to hit my characters just fine.

Anyway, I just made level 3. The first dungeon level is about 4/5ths clear. There are maybe six rooms here that I can't beat. Rotten Master Shadows and Wraiths, or just plain casting things. This is a frustrating game. I need walk thrus. :)

Wooly, I am not even 3rd level yet with any char except my Thief, and I have found a couple nice weapons that I hit with nearly every time. Can't recall where I found them, but there is a +4 club and a 2-Handed Warhammer that is +5 against undead. I am still no match for the Skeleton Lords and stuff that have wiped the floor with me, but I am avoiding them for the time being. Orogs are difficult, and I haven't yet found any ranged weapons that can hit often.
"Think on this, arrogant mageling: even the mightiest archmage has no spells strong enough to let him cheat death. Some take the road of lichdom... a living death. The rest of us find graves, and our dust is no grander than that of the next man. So when next you lord it over some farmer with your fireballs, remember: we all master spells enough to die"

I find that the Bless spell really helps in those melee encounters where keeping your head isn't simply a metaphor. :)
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

To really turn a battle against the undead, use the clerics turn undead and the scorerers disrupt undead. Zombies, skeletons etc are no match for those abilities(Remember, Paladins, Clerics and Scorerers should have really good scores in Chr). I have even turned shadows a few times. So remember to always try those out. Against wrath's, use the protection from evil spell (Both cleric and scorerer has this). Spells are really the game winners in PoR.

Ohh.. im my game I have a scorerer lvl 1/cleric lvl 1. So far he really kicks butt. I would highly reccommend this combo. Make him a elf, since they get an advantage when starting out as a scorerer.

I've finished the game. Finished it yesterday as a matter of fact. Turning on the dice rolls (right-alt) really lets you see why you are missing so often.
