thieving in the guilds...

Post by mordib »

...when you are a member. I realise it may take a while for someone to know this given we've literally only had hours of time to get into the game, but basically -

ive joined the fighters guild and the mages guild. there are lots of cool gear just lying around inside the guilds. I want to know whether taking it is theeft if you are actually a member?

Now I've already had it suggested I should just save and try but since it doesnt actually tell you if youve done naughtiness (you just find out hours later when you get arrested on occasion) this isnt a very useful tactic.

any ideas?

Well I would suggest that you read the manual but oh well:

TES4 Oblivion game manual, page 6 under Compass and activation Icons (bottem of the page)
: A red icon always indicates a crime if you perform the action

but that really doesn't tell the whole story, if you are hidden when you perform a crime, the crime doesn't add to you "bounty" so no harm to you done. How ever, if you steal something then come back in the morning and drop it in front of the owner, that's a crime, even if you were bringing it back to them, I learned that the hard way.

Even if you don't get cought, the number of thefts appears in your journel, at the stats page, so picking up an item with a red icon adds to that amount.
