I've been writing in my journal before going to sleep, which I think I may do now in fact. Figured no since signing of if I won't be online long. :(

@ Kitten, in the US it goes as such:

Your name
Your address (House number, road)
Your City, State, Zip Code (postal code)
Recipient name
Recipient address
Recipient City, State, Zip Code
:( Maggy, thanks, but I'm really, really not going to take the time to remember that.

That's ok, it's not really important. Now, on to the fun lessons...:mischief:
"You can do whatever you want to me."
"Oh, so I can crate you and hide you in the warehouse at the end of Raiders?"
"So funny, kiss me funny boy!" / *Sprays mace* " I know, I know, bad for the ozone"

I'm kind of surprised that people don't know how to address a letter anymore. Sign of the times, I suppose.

I'm getting old, apparently. I wonder if I'll be able to score Classy Points by writing letters, now that the practice is apparently archaic.

Ink well, usually, I think. Did you remember the vellum?

Yeah, that's the one. I knew it was something like that... :D

Vellum....yeah, of course, I remembered the scrolls... :p
Uh...they're around here somewhere...

I have the sealing wax, but I am not certain he has a ring? Such a personal thing, he will really have to supply his own

You have the fire to melt the wax, right? :p

Yeah, he'll have to provide the ring with the insignia.

Oops. Didn't think about the fire. But I have a nice scented candle which will probably serve meantime. I wasn't really planning for this, so I am not as organised as I would like. Between us we should manage. Though the scented candle isn't really classy any more. We will have to find something better quite soon

Tsk. I'm sure we will manage...but I've come to expect better from you, Fiona. :( :D

I know :( But in my defence I will say it is hard to be prepared for every GB eventuality. I really did not expect to have to supply medieval writing materials at this time on Saturday morning. And I suppose I will have to think about setting up a delivery mechanism. We can hardly expect to send the scrolls through the post. Any ideas?

Well, that's where lots of bubble wrap and duct tape come in useful. :D
Unless we're going to employ the tried and tested carrier pigeons?
Fiona

Post by Fiona »

Don't be ridiculous, Rav. Carrier pigeons are much too small for vellum scrolls :p

Yeah, that's a shame...it would have been nice to see that...and it seemed like such an authentic idea. :(

Well, it isn't traditional but we might think about training ostriches? So long as he doesn't want to write to people overseas, of course

Well, I suppose that would be the fastest method of animal transport.

But can you really train them to go anywhere?
And to not desert this worthy cause? ;)
Fiona

Well they have bigger brains than pigeons, probably. Though they are not noted for being biddable. We could breed for docility and the homing instinct. Any notion how long between generations in the ostrich?
