how the hell do i free the srcerer what do i need 2 do i explored all of the first level and some of the deeper halls and halls of stone and cant find what to do to free him please help thanx

you have to strike the rock (like a barrel(, while wearing a ring (i was wearing the ring of protection +1, don't know if that has to be the particular ring).
