Whats better Blade,blunt,bow, or magic?

Post by Adgeryth »

I played morrowind, and I didnt really like the magic in the game. But in oblivion its pretty good. I personally think Marksmenship is the best, because you never get fatigued when shooting so your shots are always 100% damage of the bow (you have to be a journeymen i think) and also you can kite anything you want wich helps alot during the areana duels :D . Also same with magic you can kite pretty well, and magic and bows are just easy to kill stuff; expensive but good.

In morrowind and oblivion, I'm not sure there's a better weapon of choice really. Sure, some start out with a lot of damage, and the same grade will always have a bit more than than others, say a longsword will always have a higher damage bonus than a dagger, whether ebony, glass, daedric, what have you, BUT, with the ability to make weapons with damage bonuses and such, that makes it really hard to consider one weapon to be stronger than the other.

it certainly takes a lot more effort to get good with a bow, Id be impressed with someone if they went to the effort of making a ranger type character that was actually god enough to get far in the game.

bash, slash - so far in the game (lev 9) the weaponry i've found has been biased towards slashing but then maybe thats just my game, as has been proven by comparing mine and my housemates saves, even the same missions seem to be somewhat different for different people approching them from different angles.

magic I havent really tried yet apart from healing and the basic ranged fire spell which is great fun for getting peoples attention :P

I play custom class for one reason only - I love magic, that is a must for me, but I have always found that it is very good to have blade with it as well, especially in the beginning. While I can zap them with my fire spells, they never pack enough punch to drop them before they reach me, and that's where blade comes in. Eventually I usually climb enough in both that it's a matter of mood which I'll use to drop an enemy, but I love my magic.
And He whispered to me in the darkness as we lay together, Tell Me where to touch you so that I can drive you insane; tell Me where to touch you to give you ultimate pleasure, tell Me where to touch you so that we will truly own each other. And I kissed Him softly and whispered back, Touch my mind.

I agree that bows are hard to aim, and magic takes a lot of time to get good at, but i still think those two are the best because of the way you can run and shoot... it might be a cheap way to win but it gets the job done, but magic you run out of magic, but with a bow your fatigue doest move.

Ditto. I always rely on magic with a blade and shield for back up while my magic recharges.

Exactly, and it works like a charm. I did this with the previous games, and am doing the same right now :)

I didn't like sword and shield because it was yust too damn hard, I couldn't attack at the right time and enemy kept hitting me, but with a bow I could shoot the enemies far away.

My question is am I missing something good just because i'm not using swords?
The bow seems too easy although it doesnt do so much damage and arrows run out fast.

Arrows do run out fast.... but i think it does do more dmg, because you never become fatigued.. so your damaged is always as much as it can do, for the sword every time you swing it your fatigue goes down, thus making your sword do less dmg. Using a bow is pretty expensive, but join the theives guild and steal++

Well you got hit simply because you were just beginning, though granted considering I always play my magic-blade combination, I have a nack for it by now. The thing is, even when I wanted to play just blade, I couldn't do it without magic, especially healing, plus some distance distruction spells ... Are you missing something? Well perhaps, I love my swords, got some pretty good ones last night, that do a lot of damage, but also got trashed several times as well, and only survived thanks to swords. Cudos for playing with bows though I know I couldn't. You could try using a sword against smaller animals or something and pumping up your blade skill (that'll go fast, I assume you're Novice at that one) so in case you get stuck you could use it at least, if you don't want to change your bow.

I think bow is the best because you can have sneak attack enchant it so it is like a spell and it is fun to look at the gravity side of things.

I use a combo of blade, magic, and bow. Ill use my bow on people at a medium-far range, get a few sneak attacks in, cast fire balls until they are dead, and then take out any of their companions with my blade.

yes bow. I like it because you can sneak attack them and then hit them a few more times and then whip out a blade. you get much more damage in this way than any other.

Overall, I prefer blade. Blunt is much too slow for me, marksman isn't too great when you got 5 foes charging you, and magic, well, I LOVE conjuration, but destruction, my enemies move to much for me to get a clear shot. Though it does stink when you smack an ally with a blade.

But I still use marksman when I'm not detected.

Mods should be considered in this. There's a great mod that ups the power of magic, both for you and as used by your opponents. It makes being a pure spellcaster actually possible on an offensive level.
