Newbie Question about Draining

Getting drained by shadows and stuff is really annoying, and there seems to only be so many potions of restoration that I can find. How do you guys deal with the draining?

BTW: where is the mage in the main halls? I'm supposed to break some rock wearing a certain ring or something?

RESTORATION: save those potions, scrolls, and that wand of restoration! Eventually, your cleric will be able to cast the restoration spell... there are also certain fountains and casks which will restore your characters... these you must find (1 is on the Main Halls level, another up on the Halls of Light that I've found so far).

MAGE LOCKED IN STONE: You can find Jamiel near the center of the Main Halls... look for a room which appears blasted by fire. Simple solution for him, too... resolved then-and-there type.

rest.
it's the poor man's way to restore.
each night of rest will give you back one point. since time doesn't really matter, find yourself a green spot and click the rest button as many times as needed.

later, after you help the elf in the tree with his staff quest, he can help too.

i am usually an advocate of hoarding potions and scrolls, but not in this game. i say use them all! there are kajillions of them. if you find 2 pots of restoration in a chest, its a sure sign you will need them when you turn the corner.
