Need help...n00b to elder scrolls

As the title says im a n00b to this type of rpg, i mstly play WoW. Well what im asking is spme advice on which class, race, birthsign i should take. I would prefirably like a theif.

I'd suggest a wood elf, with a thief birthsign. Favored skills: alchemy, restoration (or destruction), illusion, security (or sneak), light armor, blade, and either armorer or luck.

There's really no single optimized thief type. You can design this from several perspectives.
