Ultimate Heist TG quest *SPOILERS*

Post by gothy »

I've been real busy for the TG since I started playing. I'm now trying to finish the Ulitmate Heist quests for the gray fox. I have passed the first obstacle and am now facing the part where I have to use the Arrow of Extrication.

The problem I am having is that my quest log says I should practise with normal arrows first (I'm not even allowed the use the quest arrow). No matter how much I shoot at the keyhole I just can't seem the hit it with the distance the arrows have to travel and how small the keyhole is. I'm a journeyman archer so I can even zoom in but even then it's near impossible to even see it.

Does anyone have a hint or tip on how to beat this, cause I don't wish to load a previous savegame and having to do all the rest of the quest all over again.

Save first of course. Marksmanship doesn't matter too much, but higher levels are helpful. Aim and fire at the sopt where the figures's hands hold its sword. Then the door should open. This comes from the game guide, I haven't tried it myself.

This is starting to get annoying. I have taken you advice frodo1 and tried again shooting at where the hands meet the sword. No luck, 70 arrows further still no quest update. I think I have shot close to 500x times at the thing so far.

I enjoy a tough quest but this is over the top

Does anyone have anymore ideas? I'm starting to get irratated with this quest now but I want to finish it still nonetheless.

Okay this can be a pain...

keep firing untill you hit with a normal arrow with a loud *whack* that means that you hit where you needed to on the target, once you get that sound keep you cursor steady and equip the quest arrow then fire.

*more fun spoilers below!*

After you open that lock the statues besides the pillar will come alive. unfortunatly because their weapons are so old you can't loot them. keep following the quest arrows untill you get to the Elder scrolls Library, before entering the actual library, stop sneaking, enter and sit down on the chair, wait untill they give you the scroll, stand up, start sneaking again and take the scroll. Start heading up stairs when you get to the mage quarters equip springfoot jack's boots, look at the fire place, there's the exit. Another run through the sewer, and you're free.

Thanks so much for this info. I had been hitting the thing loads of time, just didn't know the sound was the thing that would trigger it LOL.

FINALLY I SHALL BE ALL POWERFULL :D

Arrow of Extraction

Save your game, then equip the Arrow of Extraction, then equip the bow. I found it would not let me use the arrow if I tried the other way round. Aim the arrow just above the blue gap in the statue. I only had to try two or three times before succeeding.

When shooting at distant object/people with a Ranged weapon, you need to aim ABOVE the target, or you will miss. The game designers have done quite well, imo, in imitating the flight of an arrow, which curves DOWN when it reaches the apex of it's flight. This makes little difference if the target is fairly close, but when it is at a distance you MUST aim ABOVE the target if you want to hit it. Not too far above, though. Get the range with an ordinary arrow or two before equipping the Arrow of Extraction.
