How do you pickpocket?

Post by fierydemise »

I figured before I played oblivion I should play Morrowind so I borrowed it from my friend (who already has Oblivion) while I'm waiting for my new computer to arrive. Anyway I'm doing the thieves guild quests and I'm supposed to pickpocket someone and my question is how do I pickpocket?

I don't usually play thieves, but according to the manual, you need to first be in sneak mode. Do this by holding down the left Ctrl key, until an icon appears on the screen. Then approach a person until their name appears over their head. Hitting the spacebar will bring up an inventory window, and you can try to steal an item by left clicking it.

Thanks a ton, I usually commit the manual to memory before starting to play but my friend threw out his manual so if anyone knows where I can find a scan of it I'd be very grateful.

The manual for my copy is on the CD itself - if you just open the cd and look at the folders there is a folder for manuals and then I just select the language I want (as its the European edition) - the manual is just a PDF file. Its not as informative as I would have liked though. I think I picked more up just from experimenting with stuff in game.

Just so you know...
pickpocketing in Morrowind is *very* difficult to do successfully, even with high sneak, security and luck...
