Och, Mag, a wee bit of practical please. How many folk are honest all the time. Parents are people and they have limitations. Most do their best most of the time. Give them a bit of slack, hmmm?

One of Lina's boytoys (the one I was forced to go shopping with, I hate his guts) is against gay people and I totally screamed in his face for it... he says that lesbians are hot but gays are gross and it just got me so angry... I'm actually very proud that I stood a stand and shouted at him a bit.

Don't know, OS. But parents do have to pretend about a lot of things when you are very young and it is quite hard to know when to stop, I think

I'm of the opinion no one should have to lie, to anyone, for any reason. Anyone unable to cope with the truth is in denial, and denial is just a thin blanket to hide under. Eventually, that blanket will catch fire and you'll get burned.

I honestly have more respect for people who are outright against gays than idiots like that. Even though I think it's wrong either way to be against them. *shrugs* A gay guy doesn't hurt me at all wanting men so long as he doesn't push himself on me. Why should I care?

I don't like Lina so much anymore.

Well Lina isn't against gays at all... she was mad at him for saying that gays were gross and all that... but she forgave him in half a second because he's pretty.

Meh, still don't like her for forgiving him. If I didn't need my job, and the economy wasn't so bad that I am extremely lucky to even have a minimum wage job at all, I'd tell my boss what I think of him for his views. Unfortunately, it is damn hard to find a job at all, and I can't.

I took a lot of crap and got jumped a lot in school because I stood up to everyone. Probably different being a girl, but...yeah. As much it screwed stuff up for me in school, and the effects of it afterwards, I'm not sure if I would have changed things. I'd probably be breezing through med school right now if I had just kept my head down and my mouth shut to be honest. Crappy you have to deal with people like that though hun.

It is cheap and it is dishonest, cos they know it is not true, but it puts you on the back foot. These people are morons and it is not about your obsession with Queen - they will do this to anyone female. Believe me, I am not a Queen fan. It is also true if you hold to your beliefs your friends will say you are preaching. You could never sound old and sour, you're 100% right... especially the line in bold... I come off as the "easily irritated, serious" friend of the group. Believe it or not.

I don't see how I can pick my battles with a school full of close-minded idiots.. I don't LIKE leaving people alone with their biased thoughts. I would like to think that it's worth it to stand up for what you believe in, I mean, you'll feel good about yourself but are you really changing anything?

Your life will be more difficult if you think for yourself and you challenge nonsense. And I am more than aware of the dilemma you pose - you get the grief; and worry if the warm glow is enough. No idea!

All I can say is that I try to make sure anybody I deal with knows who I am and where my bottom line is. I am sorry to say it here, but I am not always successful *looks hard at Mag* That makes me a pain in the arse with no sense of humour and I choose to live with that characterisation since I can find no help for it. I argue what I believe when the opportunity arises, and I do not pick fights (despite what it might look like, I really don't) And within my own personal limits, I don't try to change any one I see as stuck; only those I think are able and willing. And I am a po-faced bastard as a result. Well WTF

Not sure. I've learned to do my best to cope with the hand I've been dealt. *shrugs* I learned a lot other people don't know from what I have experiened.
