Journal for game without expansions

Post by mr_sir »

I don't have the expansions. Does anyone know if there is a mod or anything that will clear my journal of any finished quests? Its getting kinda annoying now - I have to make a seperate note of all the quests I am given so I can tick them off or I spend ages and ages just searching through journal entries to see what I still need to do.

Thanks

Journal enhanced?

I don't know, as I've got both expansions... But that might work.

JE won't work. It doesn't affect old journal entries, only allowing you to add new ones.

I guess I'll just have to just stick with my notepad next to my pc til I can get the expansions then - its got to be the most stupid journal design I've come across in an rpg lol as most of the quests are not even listed under the topics section (the topics section is a bit pointless really)

That was one of the most immediate responses to MW's release in general, and mine, as well. It was incredibly awkward, and I've no idea why (given the presence of so many good examples in contemporary RPGs) Bethsoft chose to do things that way. Pete Hines raved to me about the improvements ot the Journal when the first add-on came on, but he suddenly got evasive when I asked him why they settled on the original design, to begin with.

I've just managed to get the expansions really cheap on ebay so hopefully that will make the journal more usable. In theory the whole topic thing is a good idea, I just don't think they put it into practice too well. They should have had a topic heading called quests so you could just click on Q to bring up all the quests and have U for unfinished quests or something. It would have made more sense
