Swim to the robes of regeneration in the naga temple. Even though they seem to have put a barrier in the way in the collectors edition. They seem to have missed the fact that they didn't extend it all the way to the left side and if you have the crystal of levitation and in a hurry you can levitate right to the wall and climb up without having to make any jumps. Of course you miss out on opening all the chests.

Most interesting. What if that was intended as a puzzle solver? Now I'm going to have to go through again just to try that out

But you have to use a crystal of levitation to get up there obtained from the celestial temple and to see it you have to join the celestial order. Just trying to climb out of the water doesn't work the barrier still blocks your way underwater but not on top of it in that spot. And one word of advice don't jump off the platform near where the robes are you'll be stuck in a bounce effect forever. Go up the stairs and jump out the opening.

I've been through the game 21 times, of which 4 times were CE. So I certainly know about all you mention. Luckily I had a save in the Naga Temple after I had become a Shadow Lord which has the levitate ability. Climbed up to the relic without trouble. Neat trick!
