well there was a lot more to that post but i did something wrong and lost it.
I enjoy playing evil characters and having the options in my gaming experience to be the evil or nasty one sooo
I would like to hear anyones opinions on whether the game is as rewarding being evil as taking the light path and being the hero.
So far, I admit I haven't played too much, but all the quests seem to be for goody goody two shoes.
I remember playing Arcanum and aside from the many many bugs I lost myself for countless hours of sheer enjoyment. Does Baldurs gate rate up there with Arcanum and Morrowind as far as branching light/dark quests?
Arcanum was pretty damn good in my opinion and Morrowind though I wasn't able to finish was godlike.
Moved to your first post. Hope that helps. You can do it, too, just with the edit button.

I almost always play evil characters, but BG doesn't really have the freedom of letting you choose two paths. All you get from being evil is different spells and a different familiar. That's about it.
Even if you're good, you can choose an evil path in the game, and still won't affect you. Being good or evil doesn't really matter.

There's always the evil path in the hell trials, which pays really well. Still, it's not like you really are taking a separate pathway through the game.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Be Neutral - I tend to get the most out of missions and quests etc. but also tend to be incredibly insensitve, cruel and cold (but not randomly so) and it really suits my demeanour - I can't be bothered saving someone from the mess they themselves have made and want my 'charity' while I risk life and limb for them - dream on.
Go for something that suits your real-life view about situations.

I always love playing evil. That is, preferrebly a smarter kind of evil. Like Irenicus, y'know. Keeping his evilness kind of hidden (torture people in an underground lab, not creating havoc in the streets.)
Play LE or NE and always do quests that involves a rewards, such as money. Or if there's someone you want to kill. or loot. There's in fact some quests only available to evil characters, like poisioning the druid groove. You don't get that as good.
Every evil guy doesn't have to be *seen* as evil. Keep your reputation and anger under control, as soon as you get to ToB there's no need to hold back. And you get those wonderful SoA-bonuses, especially the str bonus.
And besides, some of the best NPCs will stick to you. (Sarevok (the real, evil one.) and Edwin, to name a few.
So well, IMO does playing evil pay, as long as you don't imitate a raging ogre and kill everything in your way. Have you never read a book where you didn't know the main villain was evil untill the last chapter? Go evil, but in a clever way. You can always kill them when no one looks. (Well, that's the philosophy, unfortenately it doesn't work in BG.

Good point there, only reason I tried good - when Sarevok came around you can make him good - the big wuss.
Evil in terms of Irenicus is good, plus the items - Fleshy Armor, Soul Reaving blade and that malla's ioun stone - good stuff.
Try evil if you haven't yet - it pays off if you can kill people without the terms of 'morality'
