Guild Advice (slight spoilers - no quest spoilers please!)

I've abandoned my first character now as she got to the point she was a master at everything and specialised in nothing and the whole role-playing thing seemed to have gone out the window (I'm not a power gamer so I kind of got bored at that point lol). Anyway, I decided its cos I tried to join every guild going lol so this time I've decided to make a whole new character, specialising in nothing but magic skills and speechcraft, with the view of being a really powerful sorceress in the long run (she's a custom build atronach altmer and has no fighter skills at all as major or minor skills, and only speechcraft out of the thieves skills, with specialisation in intelligence and willpower). I've just finished off the Seyda Neen area, and now I'm going to head off to Balmora on the stilt strider (rather than go exploring like I did last time) to start joining a few guilds. The mage is the obvious one, and I want to join House Telvanni in the long run. Does anyone have any advice for other guilds that would be good for this kind of character (from a role playing point of view)? I'm thinking maybe thieves just cos I like mage/thief type of characters.

Thanks.

I suppose you wouldn't want to join the Fighters Guild or the Legion, since you're not playing a fighter type. But you should do the religious groups- the Imperial Cult and the Temple. You get some nice items from the Cult quests, and I was about to tell you about them, but noticed you said no quest spoilers. And the quests from these groups are pretty good. Yeah, the Thieves Guild would fit your character.

If your PC is going to be glib, give serious thought to the Thieves' Guild. All sorts of good conversationalists, there. ;)

thanks for the replies. so far i've joined the mages and the thieves. i think i'll take sparrow's advice too and join the two religious groups. i think the problem last time is i joined the fighter based guilds too so my character ended up being both a good fighter and a mage which kinda missed the point of the character i wanted (my own fault for trying to do everything the first run through the game lol). so yeah, no fighter guild or legion this time. i'm still trying to decide whether to join the assassin guild later on - i've already decided to do the 'robin hood' type guild quests though (for the thief guy in vivec) as a started them with my last character and liked those. at the moment i'm just having loads of fun using my mage skills as a thief (i've looted most of the buildings in balmora now lol) - thanks to the 100% chameleon spell I had made (although its a bit temperamental thanks to only lasting 10 seconds and having a 50% chance of spell failure when casting it lol. combined with my 100pt unlock on touch spell though i'm now a near perfect thief :) )

Consider joining House Telvanni when you've gained some levels.

yeah, i was planning on joining the telvanni around the time i finally can be bothered to go to sadrith (or whatever its called) to get some more mage quests. i want to do some of vivec and do some imperial cult quests first though i think (and actually complete the pilgrimage so i can start the temple quests).
