Pacifist party

Post by Stroggos »

Hi all, just registered for this site. :)

I was just curious if anyone has tried a pacifist party in normal mode.

I was thinking about 2-3 druids and a sorc. The goal would be to complete the game with only naturalistic summons for roleplaying reasons. No undead or demons. Shades, shadow conjuration, and greater shadow conjuration would be ok even though they summon demons at high caster levels just because they are illusionary and not real.

I noticed that the party gets XP when summons kill, but the summoning character doesn't get credit for the kill. With this in mind, I was going to add a restriction that all party members must stay at 0 kills the whole game.

Pacifists looting the dead doesn't seem right, so I was not going to loot any corpses with the party. Actually, I was thinking about having them drop their starting staffs and play the game totally without equipment... hmmmm.

The sorc would mostly focus on illusion spells to protect the party, buffs to help the summons (a hasted elemental lord with stoneskin sounds fun ), and debuffs to keep the enemy from fighting back. Lots of confusion, chaos, hold moster, dominate person... ect.

The main problem I see is that some of the early boss fights may be hard and early on, vanilla green trolls may not be killable without getting a kill for a character. I may have to bypass those. Does anyone know if Giant Vermin ever summons enlarged fire beetles, and if so, at what level? I am assuming that they do fire damage.

OMG!
That's just masohistic.
Without any equipment!?!
You'd never get past horde's fortress, even if you do manage to get to it!
Also, high level druids are everything BUT pacifist!
"summon nature's ally" at high levels, summons elementals that attack everyone without "protection from evil".
Besides, demons are just too cute not to summon!

But, to reply you:
Even if the spell does summon firebugs, you'd have to be a lot higher level then you are when meeting with trolls.
Like I said; it's a suicide.

Hmm... interesting party... and also IMO quite hard to play with. The main problem is, like you already pointed out, the early stage bosses and trolls. Also, since you don't loot corpses, your party will be hard time to get money for potions and such, which will be quite needed in your game.

It would be nice to hear how your game with that party is going, since it really sounds interesting way to roleplay the game, even though quite hard...

It surely would take a LOOOONG TIME! this is near impossible, since you don't loot any corpses you won't get much cash etc...

besides due to you weak equipment what are you going to do vs archers? spellcasters?

or the chessboard? without some proper equiped cannon fodder your party sucks ass..

i'm sure there are alot of wizzie's who will use spells to unsummon your troops..

hahaha, da venom, do you have to ask? playing on medium difficulty i would bet nobody could make that party through the goblin warrens. just too much schtuff to handle and no way to get gold/good loot.
