Problems with Avatars...

Post by Kipi »

Since yesterday evening, I have had problems with avatars. Most of the avatars are shown correctly, but some aren't. Those which aren't are replaced by the text like "Kipi's Avatar" (see the picture included). My avatar, for example, doesn't work properly.

Could this have something to do with the latest database-fixes??

Hmm, I've never seen anything like that. I always see the full avatar on my PC, including your Fallout 2 one. I don't think this would be related to database issues, but I can't be sure.

Okay...

I have also noticed that those members' avatars, which doesn't work in one place, doesn't work anywhere else neither. So it's basically that there are limited number of members whose avatar I can't get working anywhere, including mine.

That's why I was starting to wonder if it has something do with the database -error thing...

I've been getting the same thing, I did find a way to fix it though. If I right click where my avatar should be and select 'Open Image', then it opens the image and returning back to the thread solves the problem.
However, I always get a database error after clicking Open Image.
Next time it happens I'll get a copy of the source code.

EDIT: It's the good old "mysql_connect(): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' (11)
/home/gbadmin/htdocs/forums/includes/class_core.php on line 279" error. :p

Alright, I went through and did some more MySQL tweaking. As with the regular errors, let me know if the avatars continue to be a problem.

As far as I can tell, all the database issues have been resolved. I'm not sure what issues you're having, but feel free to post a screenshot and I'll take another look.

Thanx, but no need to that anymore. Looks like avatars are working properly again...
