1) Summon a bad-ass monster to help.
2) Use spells
3) Use a high dmg magical weapon.

Use fire

Fire in any form is great against Dread Zombies

Fire DOES work against any zombies. You just need a powerful enough Fire spell or item to kill it before it kills you. A little Weak Fireball is no use at all. The worst a Weak Fireball can manage is a Deranged Zombie, and even then you need a weapon as well, plus lots of protection, utility and healing potions.

I've found that you need to lob at least 4 20-point fire spells at a DZ to kill it, so plan on having a decent weapon as a backup. Also, try to get an area attack spell, since it can be difficult to achieve the pinpoint accuracy needed for a spell that does only direct damage.

In the Skingrad mages guild quest (involving zombies) I found melee virtually useless - so I simply ran back and forth between a few locations, lobbing fireballs when I paused (zombies are slow). This takes a while (far more than 4 per zombie) - but it does get the job done.
