ring of burden

ring of burden *possible spoiler*

can someone help ive been into the well behind the mages guild in cheydinal early in the game and ive seen the man floating and managed to get to him but kept drowning as i couldnt breath under water, "had the spell but not enough magika" so i continued completing other quests. now the problem is im 90 hours into this game and ive gone back to the well and the floating man has dissapeared. ive gone to falcar and he's still telling me to go into the well, could this be a bug as ive tried restarting the game but getting no results. by the way its on 360 thanx!

not that it helps you but my housemate experienced this exact problem, didnt find any solution other than going back to an earlier save. do you have a console feature on the 360 version? if so you could respawn the ring...

sorry, on the pc version you can press the tilda button (looks like ~ i think) then type in commands that change the game. can basically be used for cheating or changing elements of the game that have gone wrong. only thing is I have no idea if there is a similar feature for the xbox version.

You know, go back and talk to her even without it. Maybe it'll work cause you don't actually have to have it as the quest goes.

I was just about to post as I have this exact problem, but I have a PC. Could someone tell me how to respawn the ring (or where to go to learn how to do that sort of stuff), although just how to do it would be fine.

Hm. Unless I'm mistaken that body carries water-breathing potions too. Simply drink them as soon as you reach it.

just in case anyone else is confused, what the original poster and others are saying is the body is no longer there, and therefore the ring (and any potion s that may or may not have been on the body) are not there either. Hence the need for the console command for the pc users at least...

And for anyone who has not yet started this quest: SPOILER

Drop ALL your armour, weapons, etc, before you enter the well, until you have reduced the weight you are carrying to virtually nothing. Just take along some waterbreathing potions, or have a waterbreathing spell. A potion or spell of Feather might be handy as well.
Don't bother searching down there, just look UP for the body - there are only a couple of small areas to look in, so not difficult to find. Grab the ring and anything else from the body and head out.
