This game works slightly different than most games where saving is concerned.

When you start a quest, the game will perform an auto save and will take a snapshot of the world.

If, during the quest you save your game (Hero Save), things like your inventory, health, mana, experience will save. The state of the world (which barrels have been broken, what areas you have explored, what monsters you have killed) will not save. If you reload your saved game, the world will revert back to the snapshot before the quest started but your character will be as it was during the last save. You will be placed at the beginning of the quest (location-wise).

Once your quest is complete, the game will perform another auto save and the world will take another snapshot. If you save outside of a quest (like when you are just roaming the land or before you enter a quest area) the world will save normally.

For the very beginning of the game, it is best to give yourself an hour or more that you can devote to the game. Play through the tutorial, childhood training, then as a teenager training and get to the end of the training sections until you are a full guild member (you will be able to select quests from the table in the middle of the guild) and can wander outside of the guild area. Once you get through the very beginning stages, you do not need as much time per play period. But for the beginning it is best to just get through all training sections in one sitting.
