Buying Scrolls of Icarian Flight (possible spoilers)

Post by mr_sir »

I've finally mastered the use of these scrolls with my level 4 sorceress - I just take a potion of levitation when I get to where I want to go then cast hide and land safely and unseen amongst whatever dangers lurk below :) Anyway, they have made life so much easier doing mage quests such as go to Punabi etc. and I was wondering if anyone knows of any traders that stock the scrolls. I have one left so wouldn't mind having some more. If I sell them to a trader would they then stock them forever afterwards?

I am pretty certain they are a unique item. The only way to obtain more would be via the console (if you are on PC).

i thought that might be the case :( i don't want to use cheats or anything like that unless i come across a bug/glitch in the game so i'll guess i'll just have to get used to walking again lol (of course i could just use levitation spells lol although they are a bit slower)

There *is* an item that increases your walking speed.. though being able to use it requires some effort..
(spoiler - highlight below)
Spoiler
You can obtain The Boots of Blinding Speed, which increase your speed by 200 points.. though you'll need to do a search on the boots, I can't remember where they are exactly.

If you can find some Scrolls of Windform or Windwalker, they'll work nicely. 500 points levitation is nothing to sneeze at, and the invisibility is a good bonus. Alternatively, the Vivec To-Stop-the-Moon shrine blessing combined with Da Boots are pretty fast too.

i already knew about the boots - i discovered those with the earlier character that i abandoned (i never quite got the hang of using them though lol).

i've discovered that bind boots together with levitate speeds up stuff a bit, plus i've made about 50 or so fatigue potions lol so my fatigue never gets low so i can run everywhere now too :) i'll save my last scroll for a special occasion i think lol

Couldn't you just enchant something with hop toad spell and a soul trapped golden saint?
You can have my Xbox, when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

This is true. As you can see from the journal where the guy lands they are his invention and he is testing the scrolls. Unfortunately he dies and no more can be made.

i might try that - but i'm still at a really low level so i don't think i'd survive very long trying to soul trap a golden saint lol, i still have trouble with soul trapping bone lords at the moment, and have to resort to summoning frost and fire atronachs to kill anything harder than those right now.

Im a level 58 breton who is exelent in everything and if u have a breton with a royal signet ring and boots of blinding speed you can do just about anything with that combonation.

POSSIBLE SPOILER:

you can get the royal signet ring off king helseth and its a very good ring too
I believe it has 100% resist magicka and 100% reflect and something else thats very good too. :D

I've discovered scrolls of windwalker now (500 levitation + invisibility for 60secs) which are pretty good as a substitution for the icarian scrolls lol - especially if combined with speed boosting rings etc. The best thing too is that one of my servants in my telvanni home sells them :)

@ash-land-er - my character is an altmer, but i might try a breton next time so thanks for that tip.

@Droideka1179 - I tried the jump spell idea and it doesn't really work as you can't really enchant something with a decent jump as even an exquisite amulet can't hold enough to make it worth it.

ive never tried this but i was thinking what if you made a slowfall on target spell and casted it on him as he fell. don't know if he would talk to you and i doubt you would be able to get more scrolls or maybe not any since he would be alive and im sure he would be hard to hit with the spell. but it might be a cool idea to see what would happen.
