Console help! (Spoilers)

I am playing an X-box 360 version of oblivion that was obviously scratched by a previous user with a defective X-Box and would like to know if there is any way around this....

I can play the game normally but every 1-2 hours I freeze up so I constantly save just in case anyways...

I started a new mage player and am at the part where you go to Weynon Priory to bring Martin back to the throne and am in the first tower where you help the guy kill a few creatures so I help him then he comes up and talks to me and says "Thank Talos you have survived" then after that it freezes for 10 seconds then gives me the error message and shuts off I thought i may have been a one time thing but I tried it 5 times in a row and it only crashes at that part.... I really dont want to play my bugged vampire whom I cant cure so this is my only chance to enjoy the game... :/

have u ever tried using a disk cleaner thing...like one of those robots lol....or taking it to a place where they MIGHT let u buy a new one for half price....but y buy a used game?...
