Help understanding how Celestial and arcane magic works

Post by sammy22 »

Despite choosing a powerful fighting character I didn't want to isolate myself from magic and so for herardly chose 10% increase on celestrial magic. I have further improved this skill using advancment points.

During my travels I have 3 Arcane spells which I understand as it lists what spells they are "freezing touch, shrieking star and fire burst" in the manual it lists these spells so I know exactly how this works.

However with regard to celestial magic (which I have specalised in) I have found 2 crystals (I think they were called peace crystals). In my inventory I now have 2 charges instead of 1, which went up when I found the 2nd crystal.

However no specific spells are given. I am just told I have 2 charges in the crystal and so I haven't got a clue how I go about using this magic. Using the quick menu I can set the crystal as a quickspell but it appears to do nothing.

Are the crystals just about how much mana you have? and I still need to find spellbooks or find teachers who will teach me specific spells?

I am also interested in learning rune magic. Do I need to find rune stones and then with the more rune stones I find I can cast different spells (exactly like underworld and underworld 2) or does it work differently in dungeon lords?

Thanks for some help, I have been enjoying the game, but feel its about time I understood how magic worked, particuarly as I have devoted many of my advancment points into ensuring I can at least use magic should I figure out how the sytem works:speech:

Celestial Magic

The crystal represent the magic so if you have to charges in the crystal you can load them up to you quick menu. You don't need a spell book. The mana indicates the number of charges and the mana 'recharges' over time based on the level of your channel skill and the level of Celestial magic skill that you have. Also some of the celestial magic, when you select it from the quick menu still needs the mouse click to have the spell activate. With the exception of the solar ray and lighting bolt, the majority of spells are defensive or healing in nature. I happen to like the celestial magic because of the spell of divine intervention which summons a celestial angel/warrior. This works especially good when you are getting swarmed and the swarm attacks the angel/warrior and then you can pick them off.

I do not use peace that much but my understanding is that it is the same as sleep.

The celestial magic inventory for sale is dispersed between the drey elf in the Temple of the Empyrean in Arrindale and Seer Paulus in the other temple in Fargrove. Seer Paulus is the one that has the lightening bolt.

Hope this helps and answers what you were asking.
