Group Fights

Post by Phreddie »

So, now that many of you are settled, and have developed your own methods for dealing with your generic dungeon, how do you figh tlarge groups of enemies at once? Jump high and rain hails of arrows and storms of spells? Use illusion to continually sneak attack? Concentrate on one man? Flail like a maniac till their blood stains the floor? Share your methods, I for one have had trouble in the past and would like to see what different methods different char. types use.

Personally, as a stealth based charachter I cannot take out large crowds like a tank. I prefer to back up into a tight corner, with the archers way at the back, and take them single file. Plus, those wonderfull archers generally take out a few men for me while they are trying to hit me. Its a wonderfull arrangement that I suggest to any stealthy lads with a shield.
If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him.

My character is a battlemage, so I usually conjur something fierce to help. I use blades to kill some enemies, but I sometimes need to drop back and lob spells. Most of the time I just tank it out. I try to take out the strongest thing first, but a lot of the time it's whoever is unlucky enough to come too close.

Group hug!

I had a interesting group fight today. Seven warrior skeletons against my monk, who by the fights hand-to-hand Mythic Dawn style. He is majored in heavy armor, block, and conjuration. Anyway, I have made a summoned full armor spell. I found a narrow passage way so the group couldn't gang up on me, kept backing up and resummoning my armor. I hit their weapons out of their hands one at a time since I figured I'd have my work cut out for me if I didn't.

I have to say, I have yet to find another game that leaves me so satisfied for figuring out a battle strategy.. and 'implementing' it. :mischief:

Button bashing fest for me I'm afraid :) I play a tank Nord character, but I find fighting large groups of enemies is annoying as I'm constantly recoiling from attacks (as in the game mechanics make my character stumble) meaning its just a case as getting off attacks where ever possible.

If the group of enemies is big, or powerful, I drink health and magicka regen potions and then start to back away while casting fireballs. Because my health and magicka are constantly refilling I can keep at it for long enough and get off enough spells.

Spells for initial impact then I always go up close and personal and bash away. It's fun that, what can I say. I'm more of a hands on kind of guy ;) I do like to finish them off with a fire ball if I can - they go flying!
And He whispered to me in the darkness as we lay together, Tell Me where to touch you so that I can drive you insane; tell Me where to touch you to give you ultimate pleasure, tell Me where to touch you so that we will truly own each other. And I kissed Him softly and whispered back, Touch my mind.

Especially skeletons! I love the way they explode with their skulls just flying off like rockets

I usually summon something to help me. Then i stay far away with my bow and use lots of spells. if they some close I'll just crush them with my war hammer or slice them up with my sword.

My guys more of a stealth guy to so I know what you mean, I had a hard time trying to figure out how to fight groups right away to. When I get in a big fight in side some place with more then 2 of whatever I sneak up to the back one, get my damage bonus and finish him off quick, then just keep hacking away while blocking and running backwards. But then if I'm outside in the world I do the same but also have my **(spoiler)horse from the dark brotherhood help ameans he fights and dosn't die help me.** All and all it works pretty good.
