"Permanent" Stat increases *possible spoilers*

Post by Solusek »

Hi there :)
While playing through the game I came to different points where you get so-called "permanent" stat/skill increases. My question is, in which way do these work?

Let's say you get +3 to athletics, blade and block from that orc guy in the arena. Can you then level those 3 skills to 103? I mean they ARE listed under "current effects". As an effect, they should apply to your current skill level, which means basically that you should be able to gain till 103. But as none of my skills are anywhere near 100 I haven't come to test it myself, yet. Can anyone help me with this?

Same with vampirism btw. Do the vampire skill and stat increases apply to your max. possible skill/stat level as well? Furthermore I'm wondering if those permanent stat/skill increases depend on your current level when you receive them. Does anyone know? Sorry for that rather long text, but I'd really be glad if someone could help me anyway :) Thx in advance.

So long,
Sol

No, you are just 3 points closer to being maxed. If what you suggested were the truth, then my sneak skill would be around 106 with out enchanting, alas it is only 100.
If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him.

You sure?
I mean you do know that I'm *not* talking about skills that are taught to you by trainers, do you?
The permanent stat increases I'm referring to are taught to you as a quest reward or due to some extraordinary "transformations". Unlike the regular skill advancements that can be taught to you, those are listed under "current effects" as I already mentioned above.

I will check tonight as i've had these permanent increases whilst already being maxed out, i had thought that they could force you stats above 100 but only if you were already at 100... But I have more faith in Phreddies logic than my memory hence im not stating that as fact

I had my blade at 98 when I did the ... well certain quest ... that got me +3 blade. Now I didn't know this would happen or I wouldn't have done it. Anyways, now it's just 100 and it should have been 101, so no, nothing past 100 unless we are talking about enchanting items etc. I actually got cheated, cause this increase didn't count in the leveling up.
And He whispered to me in the darkness as we lay together, Tell Me where to touch you so that I can drive you insane; tell Me where to touch you to give you ultimate pleasure, tell Me where to touch you so that we will truly own each other. And I kissed Him softly and whispered back, Touch my mind.

Well, that really does suck. Especially since this kind of "training" doesn't count for your level up, which basically leaves with 1,5 stat points less in each :(

On the Xbox360, my skill reach 100, but the effect of the Grey Prince Training still give a +3, bringing it to 103 like with a buff.

Other free skill point given doesn't work that way.

I see no benefit to have a higher skill than 100, beside been a buffer against drain effects/spells.

I reach 125 in some skills with items and buffs and...I didn't notice any difference...

at least on the xbox 360.
