Ok I just bought my version a few days ago I was wondering do I need the patches or do I have an updated version?

As far as i know--you need the patches.

But you can patch anyway,even if you don't.No harm in patching..

Patches are a must. The combo you listed in the other thread is generally reputed to be a nice stable combo, so if you're having trouble with it, it's likely due to something specific to your computer.

A simpler patch combo is just patch 2 and temple.zip. It runs really stably. If you have the co8 patch with the front-end program, you need to run the front end program to get the options set up. There, you can choose which patches and mods you want to run. I believe the default is nothing (it used to be, anyway), so if you don't run front end, running co8 is like running nothing beyond patch 2.
