Hi
I decided to make a monk and a kensai\mage to play BG2 with, my mage is 1 level away from getting his kensai abilities back. yay
Now for the question
I would like 3 other npc's to use, but I am not sure which ones are good to make a well-balanced party. That leaves the 6th and final slot open to the quest npc of the time.
So what npc's would help make my party well-balanced?
Thanks for your help.

A monk and a kensai/mage mean you are pretty heavy on the up-front combat (assuming that you use the mage skills of the k/m as a way of creating defenses, making your sword attacks better, etc., rather than casting cloud kills and fireballs).
I would say use
1. Jaheira (as one more up-front fighter, plus her awesome Druid skills)
2. Aerie (plenty of bang for her buck)
3. Imoen (enough thief skills for anyone, nice spell-casting).
Aerie and Jaheira might actually be too much healing power, so make sure you take advantage of the great high-level offensive druid and cleric spells.

For once, I completely agree. Doltan listed very good choices. Lots of flexibility in that lineup.
