Post by theRealJericho »

I've seen that the 23rd silver key can be aquired after dueling with Thunder. But i havent did it cuz i got Lady Grey out of town and i became mayor. Is there a way to aquire that key now?
Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.

There is a trick that some people say but i cant get it to work. But all you do is go to the area where you are suppose to fight thunder and there is a ledge when you look down you will see some water and some land. Pull out your trusty shovel and start digging you should eventually move back enough where you fall over the edge.

Yet again this doesnt work for me so im not sure if you can. The easiest way would be cheating a little. When you find a key during a quest just hero save and load that hero save and you should have the key and there will still be another key in the area you just were at.

Spoiler:
Spoiler
If you want to be mayor and get that key, you have to follow the marry her quest until after you fight Thunder, then do the expose her quest.
If you want to do the digging thing:
Spoiler
Get to the cliff where you would start fighting Thunder. Go right up to the edge of the cliff and face away from it. Start digging over and over. Each time should back you up a step and eventually your coordinates should make the game think you're in the next area. I've never done this myself, but these are the instructions from other threads.
Getting a key with the quest cheat:
Spoiler
Find a quest where there is a silver key in one of the quest areas. Start the quest, get the silver key, save your game, reload that saved game. You will start back at the beginning of the quest but your inventory stays the same. Some people have reported that doing this too many times can corrupt your game, so make sure that before you start reloading saved games to save an extra copy somewhere that doesn't get updated. Sample keys for this purpose:
Oarchard Farm: Protect/Attack Oarchard Farm quest
Darkwood Lake: Escort the Traders quest
Twinblade's Camp: Find the Seeress quest
Hobbe Cave: Hobbe Cave quest
Witchwood Stones: Find the Archaeologist quest
Good luck.

The digging trick only works in the original Fable.

About that Hero Save trick, I tried it once in a certain quest (can't remember which one because its been a long time since I played it) and hero saved. After a couple of tries, the load times for the game starts to become significantly slower on the PC version. I experienced it before and was wondering if anyone had a similar problem to mine.

Just be careful when you use this trick.

It is true. If you do it too much then it'll crash your game. I never done this because i never needed to but just be forworned that it will crash your game if you do it alot of times.

Thank goodness I'm not the only one with this bug

Thanks for the tip, Piff. I was starting to wonder if I'm the only one with this bug. Anyway, after the game became slower due to this hero save trick, I load from the previous save and presto, the game was back in its normal state before the hero save trick (luckily, the save wasn't that far off to the save slot that I used for the hero save trick). From then onwards, I played it fair and square. No more hero save trick for me.

Anyway, I probably suspect that it could either be a bug or a penalty installed by Lionhead to punish those who abuse the hero save trick especially in getting the unlimited number of silver keys. Its just a hunch, though not sure if its true.
