Acension - 2 things that annoyed me

Post by Earnest »

OK i loved this mod and the fight was excellent. That said:

1) Balthazar's Greater Malison. Globe of Invulnerability cuts this out as expected, but Jan had Immunity: Enchantment up and yet his saving throws were still lowered. Not fair!

2) Balthazar's abilities. I 'talked' him to death back at the monastery, so the final Throne fight was my first experience of fighting him. I dont mind if he is immune to timestop, I dont mind that he has ten thousand different abilities to use on us. What bugged me was his permanent state of improved alacrity, meaning he can use these nifty tricks as often and as quickly as he liked. ( I never played a monk, the idea turns me off - are they all like this?). I was a more powerful Bhaalspawn yet even I was limited to one ability per round!

Anyway he's dead now. That oughta teach him

1 - Its not supposed to be fair :D

2 - Its not supposed to be fair. But, in fact let us think: If you have a monk, plain monk, soloing, you wont beat him IMO. Cause he's just too strong, with this improved alacrity and tons of habilities that he often stacks against us. Lunar stance is really bad. And (AFAIK) its not even alacrity: Its scripted, and he can cast that every second if the AI decides so. He has some resistances that are hard to believe, and I really dislike him in the last battle (he alone is not that hard to deal with).

Yeah, that oughta teach him.

Try posting the outcome of the last battle with Amelissan. I hate that battle cause it is far too much cheesy for my liking but the thing is, finishing it is just cool.

Hehe, well there is a reason why my time traps+assassinations usually takes him out before the "real" combat even starts. :]

And, as said, it's not supposed to be fair since you can cheese in a manner scripted characters never can. It's not *fair* that the whole Eclipse party is immune to time stop and can cast it instant and often. :]

You need some more patches... like xp cap remover. Did that with a F/T/M but quit halfway, wasn't as funny as you could think. :) Not even the slighest challenge.

The real problem is in the vanilla game, of course. How did you do that, btw? Which battles have you chosen?

all tactics and ascension mods... never got to many of the latter one though. After finishing imp. compound, imp. rune, and well... every tactic mod in athkatla, I just felt it was way too easy. When you get time stop, you can't loose so to speak (: Quitted somewhere in the underdark when I got a bug, just hadn't the spark to play anymore.

[addon] And well, "how" was mainly by a regular time stop at higher levels, and a mislead on lower. Backstabbing highlevel F/T/M... not funny. I also had the staff of cheese and well... d'oh. (:
