Hey steave,

I was just wondering, is there anyway you can edit 2 characters from a coop game? Cuase ever time I try to open a coop save game I only can edit the host's player. If you could add some feature to chosee inbetween characters in a coop game, that would be awsome!

Thanks for a great tool, Steve2d! Very user-friendly, simple, and covers pretty much everything it needs to cover for the average player.

Something that might be of use to some users... re-editing the same file multiple times... I've noticed that in savegame editors from various other games that if you open a save, change it, close it, then open it again, for some reason the SGE tends to open the original version of your save. Can't explain it (not a coder), but that's what consistantly seems to happen. It might look like the save you modified, but when you save it again it only saves the latest changes into the original file.

The solution is to never ever open the save a second time... Load your game, save again under a different slot, and modeify that save. Use the old slot again later if you want, there's nothing wrong with it beyond the SGE being too lazy to read the whole thing instead of using an old version with the same name.

I've often reopened the same save, at start of new game in the starting area. When I thought of something else, I would resave the same file, quit, edit the save, reopen it in game and everything is still there.

The trick is to resave over the same game, to preserve what you changed before. Then quit and edit it again. Always resave at least the same save, or save in another slot and edit the new slot.

i've had some problems

when i edit a character with the new version of your editor, some of my items disapear. all of my archaine magic books, some of my armor and the likes....do you still have yout 1.52 build? that one worked fine for me...

could you post a link to it?

Updated Release...Sorry for delay in correction

Hey everybody,
Sorry about the delay, but my life has been unbelievably busy lately with no signs of letting up anytime soon. There are an additional 4 x 1-2 week trainning/business trips that have been added to my schedule for this year on top of my normal chaotic schedule. So, I will do my best, but we all need to make a living.

I found a few seconds to look into the issues that many are having with the items disappearing. I believe that it is resolved in this V1.54 release, but send me your feedback. I'm also working on shrinking the executable by reformatting the images in the executable to a more compact format. I'm hoping to keep it under a meg even with all of the new images before its all said and done. Thanks for your patients. Enjoy!

Multiplayer Game question

I have had several users ask about modifying the other characters in a MP game save, but as far as I can tell each player's character stat/equipment is stored on their respect PC's. I do not believe that the host/server computer stores the other characters information within its local save game file. Therefore, each player would have to modify their own individual files to make changes to that particular character. If any have any questions or evidence to the contrary, then I would love to see it and will do what I can improve the editor program.

Problems running the editor :(

Hi.
I just downlaoded the newest savegame editor (I haven't dled any others) and im having the same problem as acleacius. I have downlaoded what seems to be the proper requirements such as .Net framework v1.1 final and as above, but it gives me the error sign thats the same as what happend to acleacius. I have treid reinstalling the editor but i still got the same response.

Im really exited about getting the editor and i can't wait to actually use it, thanks for making it steve2d.

Always need more specifics. Many errors appear the same, but end up being slightly different. I believe that this is the error that you are referring to:

If so, then this has been resolved and is documented by microsoft in the link the faq as a problem with the installation or version of .NET framework. The .NET framework contains the fundamental building blocks that this application was written on using Visual Studio .NET. Trying downloading or reinstalling .NET from the links in my signature or the FAQ and let me know what happens. If this does not resolve the problem, then look in the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\" (where C:\Windows is the typical location for XP") and tell me what the names of the subfolders are. I'm running the 2.0 verion of .NET framework. Also, I need to know which version of windows which can be found by running msinfo32.exe and copying the first two lines("OS Name" & "Version"). Thanks. Let me know how things work out.

Thanks so much steve2d, apperantly i forgot to totally install .NET framework final. Unfortunatly I can't use it right now because my brother is bugging me to get off. once again thanks a bunch :D

I'm glad to help. Hopfully there aren't any more problems for you. Let me know how it works out.

Has anyone else had any problems with the new 1.54 version? I'm specifically looking for confirmation that the item's dissappearing issue is resolved. I don't have time to play the game anymore, so i have to test through you feedback.

Warning about setting god mode with the editor!


I tried a new character with godmode, and entered Custard mansion. Any mimic chest, including the one with the cellar key, would attack. But since character stats are so high, it kicks the mimic closed again and the key can't be taken.


BUT, since you have the editor, you can use it to insert the cellar key! :D

Hi , Im having a wonderful time with your editor, accept with spells and runestones. I can't figure out how to edit the quantity. this problem only with spells and runestones, the weapons work fine. thanks for making the editor.

In the editor highlight the spell or stone, on the lower left is status 0, make it 04 so you won't have to identify it, quantity 1 and quantity 2 should be same of 50 or whatever you want.

I imagine you're quite busy with job related issues for some time now. I'm replaying version 1.3 to compare differences with CE. It seems that the xyz coordinates for 1.5 can be used with 1.3.

I'm wondering what information, in the save, determines how much of the map is revealed by walking around. That's the only way in 1.3 because the Crystal of Vision doesn't function!

The only info in the save, pertaining to map exposure, is when you use a Crystal of vision. After it wears off, the only part of the map exposed is the part you actually walked on. The permanent exposed part of the map is stored in the \Dungeon Lords\Map\spoke000.map file. The information seems pretty straight forward, but it gets rather big as you explore and expose more of the map. Now, if there was some way of inputing data and uncover the entire map permanently!!!

Found out that any map area uncovered by walking around, it's only good for the current game in progress. It cannot be used with the start of a new game. Wish there was some way of turning on at least a portion of the map, similar to when a crystal of vision is used (it wears off), and make it permanent!

I'm trying to join the sisterhood but I have a problem...

I saved Lady Loriea from the goblins but somehow she vanished before I could talk to her. I thought nothing of it at the time. I'm far into the game right now (multiplayer with a friend) and now it seems impossible to join the sisterhood because I never talked to her. (Yes my character is female)

Can anyone advise me on how to edit the saved game to get past this? I just want to be able to join the sisterhood (I suppose I could just add the Valkyrie class, but I would rather not if possible...especially since I miss out on all the quests and adventure getting it)

I have not tested this yet, but have found a source for information about the quests structure in the save game files. see the copy from another site.
