I rarely cheat, meaning that I do on occasion but only if I've completed a game to the point that I'll never touch it again. An example is in Devil May Cry 3, I completed the whole game a few times maxed every skill and gained every upgrade. This left me with left for me to do; so I admitably used a cheat to get extra skins (that only change appearance).

For RPGs I can't stand even using an external program to view files even if I don't modify anything, because I just like to play pure. RPGs are about building and earning everything and to take something like that away makes the game too meaningless.

Nothing to me makes me happier than to overcome some freaking hard game and say I completed it without help.

Anyone can cheat but it takes skill to win.

I don't simply because it's boring and there's no challenge and that should kind of be the point for me ... when I was just getting into gaming quite a long time ago, I did try it like most people out there probably but it became something like - lean on your hand, click mouse, yawn, eat choc, yawn - so I quickly dismissed the idea of even little help and that's how it's been ever since.
And He whispered to me in the darkness as we lay together, Tell Me where to touch you so that I can drive you insane; tell Me where to touch you to give you ultimate pleasure, tell Me where to touch you so that we will truly own each other. And I kissed Him softly and whispered back, Touch my mind.

I usually play through a game at least 4 or 5 times, add then try all mods, and various ways to play, but like most of us, cheats are a last resort. remember when I played a version of BGII and my character was so powerful it took all the FUN out of the game. So when I do use a cheat, it is just to see what effects it has on gameplay.

Nothing left to do but smile, smile, smile...!

Back when I was playing older games, I used to cheat. A lot. The reason is because the games I played back then were so frustrating in nature that it'll make me feel like smashing the computer screen. Rainbow Six fit in this category as the AI is one of the stupidest I've ever seen in my life and always have to restart the mission thanks to their birdbrain tactics of running into enemy fire and not responding when being shot at.

As for RPGs, I didn't cheat at all because I was able to get the hang of the games in this genre. As for RTSes, I do cheat but in later titles like Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 onwards, I stopped and decided to play fair.

FPSes and 3rd person shooters is where I do some cheating. I ditched cheating when I played more modern titles starting from 2000 onwards like Freedom Fighters, FEAR and Quake 4 to name a few.
''They say truth is the first casualty of war. But who defines what's true? Truth is just a matter of perspective. The duty of every soldier is to protect the innocent, and sometimes that means preserving the lie of good and evil, that war isn't just natural selection played out on a grand scale. The only truth I found is that the world we live in is a giant tinderbox. All it takes...is someone to light the match" - Captain Price
