Encumbered!!! (spoiler???)

Post by magicpac »

I became encumbered when I fought Tirer at Shara. I keep taking the Strength potion, but I keep getting encumbered again. I slept for days and days and my fatigue level rises very slowly. I read the post on using the strength potion but it doesn't give me a perminent fix. The little red thingee goes away, but just for a short time. It comes back when my potion runs out. What else do I need to do? Where do I find the perminent fix?

You need to visit a temple shrine. Either go to an Imperial temple and click on "Restore Attributes," or go to a Dunmer temple and click on "Almsivi Restoration."

If you have chosen the Atronach sign, you can visit the exact shrines I mentioned and those options will restore your magicka.

You should also be able to restore your drained strength using a restore strength potion (not a fortify strength) or two (depending how much it is drained).

Good reason to learn alchemy, because you never know what attributes are going to be targeted by weapons, spells or simply basic critter attacks. The worst are obviously strength and endurance hits, but it can really wreck merry hell out of your plans if your mage is slapped with a heavy intelligence or willpower curse early on in a dungeon quest.

It's also a good reason to learn Restoration. I always buy a spell for restoring every attribute. This is easier than making potions, but I suppose some people prefer to roleplay as alchemists. I sort of do both.

I tend to learn a few restoration spells then when I come across a decent item of clothing and trap a reasonably good soul I go and make an item such as 'Pants of Restoration' that restores 8 or 10 points to every attribute at once when used and that has enough charge for about 4 or 5 uses. Makes life a lot easier as you just equip them whenever you need to restore attributes. It also enables you to gain the effects of things like Skooma without any of the bad effects if you use it after taking the skooma.

So do I. Each to their own: I tend to save my magic during battle for destruction, illusion and alteration, using potions for restoration. Too bad MW didn't allow attrtibute-affecting potions on weapons, though a few mods allowed you to add poisonous potions to them.

I have a spell called Orguls strong again, works every time and it only takes one point in magic. I got it on the Temple quest, MAN the number of times I have gone up aginst a bonewalker and lost all my strength... I also carry the raw ingredients needed for making restore strength potions.
