I am feeling a lot better... But, why do you ask? Did I look like having a bad day?

When you were talking to Waverly, you seemed upset. Things being different on the board. Just a friendly concern. ;)

Ah... I wasn't upset, but getting like a "Who cares?" state. Thank you for the concern. I should be more careful with my posts. I am fine. :)

Actually, I'm glad you voiced your opinion. You shouldn't keep things all bottled up, it's not good for you. Besides, it got people into different threads. :D

I have to go now. :( I will talk to you tomorrow.
Have a good evening Professor. ;)

Have you eaten in a while? How about anything to drink? Sounds like light-headedness to me. By all means don't spam if you need some sleep... we enjoy your company, but don't want you to get sick over it ;)

Doc: I've never come to you before for any help, but I think it's time. My company is going out of business, I in the process of breaking up with my girlfriend of three years and I'm going to lose $24,000 in two weeks.

I'm depressed. What's wrong with me? What should I do? Help Doc.

I had lunch 5 hours ago and now making tea... Thank you for the advice. I'll go to bed for an hour or so. :)

Are you serious Foul? Let me give it some thought... in the meantime I can only offer the obvious: get about 500 copies of your resume out there, call some contacts and start networking, tell the GF to quit hassling you- you have more important things to worry about.

Without getting into personal details, why does the breakup of your company necessitate the loss of 24K?

The way I negotiated my salary upon my last promotion. The figure that I wanted was a good deal more than they were willing to pay, so we agreed to do an alternate deal. They wanted to ensure that I'd stay around, so we said that I'd get X% of my salary divided up across the year in normal fashion, and the remaining Y% on the one year anniversary of that negotiation. So, Next month is one year from that time. And Y = $24K. So, if we go under, which is likely, we'll do it within two/three weeks, and that'll mean that I won't get the rest of my damn salary. Which means that instead of working for the past year for X+Y, I've worked the past year for X. And, or course, I've budgeted accordingly.

That is a strange way to figure salary, *but* what you are owed is the prorated amount, which is nearly all of it. I am sure of this. Unfortunately, if you need to use a lawyer to get it, you still won't see it all. March into someones office ASAP and negotiate a date for the prorated amount to be cut in the form of a check.
