I apologise to you. I'm probably part of the reason, the people who want to listen to it. If it's any consolation, all our news coverage for the last two weeks was focused on Beaconsfield, from knowing one of the miner's great aunt's long lost crush's friend's dog, to meeting the local baker to hear some story about how he almost got famous ;) .
Do you really listen to it on MY radio station? Baaad DJ.

And why would that be a consolation?

Yep, I have a fetish for Scottish announcers :p .

Well, I'm not really interested in all that stuff. Surprisingly, most of the public isn't either. I remember back in 2001, when September 11 happened, all networks were showing footage, constant shows about it. Rather than get into the bidding wars, one of the commercial networks just stopped showing things, instead, placing on normal programming, meanwhile the other two paid heaps and screened the shows. The best to come out of that period was the station that didn't show the footage, as people grew sick of it.

Which would explain why I'm not being affected by listening to it.

I have a rant from yesterday I forgot to put up.

Ladies who power-waddle directly in the middle of the bike trail I use to go to work, flailing their arms, like a beached whale waves its flippers are irritating beyond reason. It will not hurt you to kindly step out of the way for all of 3 seconds in order to allow me to pass you on my bike. Nor will it hurt you to pay attention to the fact I have been following you for all of 5 minutes, idling my bike which causes a loud clicking sound as the wheels turn all of 2 feet behind you. If my bike were sturdier, I would have run you down with it! GRRR!
"You can do whatever you want to me."
"Oh, so I can crate you and hide you in the warehouse at the end of Raiders?"
"So funny, kiss me funny boy!" / *Sprays mace* " I know, I know, bad for the ozone"

They'd only sue you if you were able to Mag... :p
They can sue people who get run over on cycle paths here, unless the law changed...and even though pedestrians aren't supposed to walk on cycle paths.

Reminds me of one strip of Dilbert where he's walking behind two large oblivious (they were referred to as such) women who were walking slowly, side-by-side, down the hall. There's no room to pass, and he's freaking out; Alice comes up, sees the situation, and has Dilbert launch her over them in order to make some kind of path around them I'm still not too sure of.

Reminds me of walking through malls. The people walk up and down the paths like they're the only people on earth, and it pisses me off (I was at the mall today, hence why it's so fresh in my mind). They'll step right in front of you, walk slowly holding hands (damn couples), or with their family tagging along, and that's like the ultimate in blockage, because you have a man and wife holding hands, and each one has a kid by the hand, so you have four damn people blocking the damn walkway! And they all walk SO SLOW! And are oblivious to the fact that there are other people behind them! It's a good thing I inherited my mom's walking speed, so I can dart in between clusters of idiots, otherwise I'd probably still be at the mall, trying to go to the two stores I was looking for.

Lestat: it wouldn't surprise me at all if they did sue. People want to sue everyone just so they can get some money. That's another thing I hate: lawyers letting people sue whoever the heck they want.

Having just gone for a walk in our local park reminded me of another rant...

Those inconsiderate arses who refuse to clean up after their dogs
Dog crap everywhere is gross and it spreads disease... yech!

*nods* The police cheif's wife used to walk their dogs, bag the poo, and then leave the bags in our lawn. I grabbed the bag, spun it around to get it going at a good speed and then launched it at her back. It made a wet, thudding noise as it struck her, then she turned. I told her never to leave it my yard again. She never did. The look on her face was awesome.

@ Chim, Yeah, those people are one of the many reasons my friends refuse to take me to the mall. Those people and the half-naked skanks cause me to get security all riled up.

I'm surprised she didn't get her husband to apply pressure to you for such an action. Or maybe she did... :speech:

Oh, I hate malls period. Havens of capitalism that they are. They get like top priority in getting power back in Florida after hurricanes, just after hospitals. So that people have places to go to spend their money. So insidious, sometimes I wonder if I hate the government more than I admire it. And I hate shopping. I try to dart in and out of malls as quickly as possible, just get what I want/need and leave as fast as possible. And I hate crowds, which malls generate. And I hate Abercrombie and Fitch; they are an open bar and poppers away from being a gay club, seriously. Good music, though.

Here here! :D
I despise malls myself. Overheated, airless Hell holes... full of vacant-eyed shoppers, elevator music and overly giddy teeny bopper Britney Spears look alikes... *shudders*

@ Chim, You make a good point....the cops around here harrass me like you wouldn't believe.

That would explain why I get bad vibes from the place. Never went in there, but it all makes sense now! My brother got paid really well to fold shirts there, but he got all sorts of creeped out and quit, suddenly, and would not talk about, to anyone.

@ DW, Yeah, she was totally unhappy with me. *shrugs* I was tempted to call the police and inform them she littered, but that seemed far more gratifying. I was a minor, so they really couldn't do much at the time.

Malls are no good. I hate shopping, period. Malls, if I am forced to enter, I use the mall-people as an outlet for my personal frustration and amusement. It's like a playground for the sadist inside!

(copied verbatim from Top Ten thread)

I hate l337. Seriously, I thought it was the dumbest thing ever concocted by a moron with no life, I mean really. I never took the time to even try to understand it, and I was once a true, bonafide gamer. People who speak in it deserve scorn and nothing less. I also do not respect or recognize ebonics. It is a butchery of the English language, nothing more (as the English will say Americans bastardized the English language, as well). No, that doesn't make me racist and no it doesn't mean I don't respect other cultures, it means ebonics is not a language (god, this so needs to be put in my rant thread). The day "bling" made it into the dictionary is the day English as a language died. And when did hicks become so popular? Why the heck is Hairy the Cable moron funny to people? That disgusting show, those nasty people. "Get 'er done" is NOT FUNNY!

@ Chim, I concur, most heartily. Now, I must break down into my drunken rant.

I hate when I order a drink, and they use cheap booze in it and charge an arm and a leg! When I order a rum and coke, I do not want to be drinking Bacardi Silver in my drink! Mmkay? That is just...twisted! Toss me something like the Captain, or some type of Puerto Rican rum, not the crap that is $15 a liter at any liqour store in the county. That's like 1 step above Ron Rico!
