That depends on what your enchanting and What level you got the sigil stone at. when clicking on the sigil stone it'll come up with the enchant screen and tell you exactly what property that particular sigil stone holds. Alot of the time its Constant Effect but occasionally you get a 'On Strike' which you can only enchant weapons with.

Doomstones and Waystations (SPOILERS)

[QUOTE=ammama]doom stones i'v heard of, having read quill-weaves notes on them. what do they do. where can i find them?

Doom stones are ancient pillars with glowing brightly colored inscriptions on them found throughout the lands. Sort of Stonehenge looking arrangements. You can click on the pillar and sometimes it will ask you if you will dedicated yourself to this or that principle. If you say yes you get a special spell added to your spell list. Appear though that you can only have one of these at a time and the new spell will replace what you previously had there from an earlier doomstone. So it pays to save before saying yes to the pillar in case its not a spell you're likely to use. Many of the other doomstones grant you bound deadric gauntlets and a dagger for a few minutes then disappears. Doomstone locations do not become marked on your map when you find them, just like the temple waystations.

Waystation SPOILER: BTW if you haven't found all the temple waystations that makes for an interesting and rewarding quest of sorts. Once you find them all you also get a nice spell added to your spell list plus the usual bonus of getting the blessings from the temple shrines.

With Sigil stones I've always gotten two choices for the enchantment. They are related enchantments but obviously one is meant for weapons (on strike) and the other is meant for wearable items (constant effect). For example one allowed me to enchant a weapon with an Absorb Speed spell OR enchant armor with a CE Fortify Speed spell. I used it to make glass greaves of fortify speed. Hope that helps.

What UncleScratchy say is right, but he forget one thing, that is the diffrence between the stones he talk about. There are doomstones, they are glowing red, and there is the normal stones (cant remember the name) that grant you a blessing of weapons and armor.

Well i have been doing some search on my own and i have found this so far: (highlight)
Spoiler
Stone of Warrior
Location: North of sillorn and southeast of Skingrad
Power: Fortify Strength 20 for 120 sec, Fortify blade, blunt, hand to hand 10 pts for 120 sec

Stone of Aetherius
Location: Bleak Flats Cave North of Skingrad
Power: Fortify Magicka 50 for 120 sec, Resist Magic 20% for 120 sec

Stone of Mara
Location: Unknown (got it before i started to search)
Power: Restore 100 pts hp on self, restore 150 pts hp on target

I have also found 2 wayshrine

Wayshrine of Stendarr
Location: The colovjan Highlands, right in the center of the "e" in
The

Wayshrine of Akatosh
Location: Unknown (again before i started to search, but i can remember it was outside one of the cities, perhaps the one with the chapel of Akatosh i dont know.
I would be very pleased if anyone can come with more information on where to find these stones/wayshrines i know there is 21 in total (doomstones) 13 is the birthsigns while the others are named after other cults, and ofcourse there is 9 wayshrines... so far i have akatosh and stendarr.
If this thread keeps getting used i will update this reply with my new foundings, because i think i remember the location of 2 other doomstones, but i have to cheak it out, also i will look into the Wayshrine of Akatosh again.

Abuse, for future reference, you can't link directly to a GameFAQs FAQ. It deliberately shoots you to an error page.

I am curious about some Doomstones which, when activated, tell me that the stars are not correctly aligned (or some such thing). This suggests they only work at certain times of the year, depending on the stars?

Am I also correct that you can have only one Doomstone power at a time - i.e., that when you select one it replaces whatever power you already have?

I believe it is simply the time of day, the Thief stone for example can only be activated during the hours of night.

and yes, only 1 doomstone power @ a time

I personally favor the powers that give luck bonuses - used just before entering an area with good item spawns in it can significantly improve the quantity of magical item finds.

If you haven't completed the DB quest line you can also go to Bravil and click on the statue of The Old Lady (aka Lady Luck) and get a blessing of Luck bestowed on you.

Locations of some of the other Wayshrines. I've noticed that there are multiple wayshrine for the same saint in some cases.

Dibella: South of Weynon Priory/Chorral below the "d" in the word "Road" on the map.

Julianos: North of Fort Farragut, above the "e" in "Cheydinhal".

Mara: NW on Anvil, right where the "n" in "Anvil" is on the map. There's a doomstone nearby as well.

Zenithar: South of the Faregyl Inn and another one near Veyond Cave north of Bravil.

Tiber Septum: Near Mingo Cave, just east of the Faregyl Inn.

Stendarr: East of Imperial City on the point of land above the island in Lake Rumora, SSW of Fort Urasek and north of Memorial Cave.

Arkay: ???? Anyone know where I can find this one?

Kynareth: East of Skingaard about halfway between Derelict Mine and Bloodcrust Cavern. A second shrine to Kynareth is West of Weatherleah just a bit North of Fort Dirich.

Akatosh: Almost due south of Bruma just off the Orange Road

Doomstones/Runestones:

Near the Mara Wayshrine right on the "A" in "Anvil" on the map is the Sidri-Ashak Rune Stone. I believe this is one of the red ones

Just a short distance SW from Bleak Flats Cave is the Reman Rune Stone (green) - grants daedric bound deadric armor and weapon (dagger) for a short while.

Sitting almost next to Bleak Flats Cave is the Aetherius Stone (red doomstone)

Now which are the stones in the Ayleid Ruins that you find on the pedestals that renew your Magicka and Health, I think? Are they called Ayleid Stones? They sort of glow blueish, the ones I've seen do ....

The ones that restore your magicka are the Welkynd stones, the blue ones.
The other ones that are not worth the effect but more worth the gold, are the Varla Stones.

Varla stones replenish magical weapons! MUCH more valuable than the sale price! :) And not nearly so many of them as there are Welkynd stones.

Neither of them renew health.
