Yeah, it's neat. Not precisely chess, but the whole battlefield and up to 12 players on your army thing reminded me of it. Every character has a limited range of movement, differening on character type, but they could move X amount of squares in any direction. Not like a specific type of movement like in chess. It's neat, but very, very simple. I mean, the first one came out in '93 I think. Most of the spammers around her were just being potty trained when it came out!

SNES was a failure aside from Ogre Battle boy! Take it like a man!

Speaking of which, I need to get to sleep. I can't screw up at work this week. This week the CEO reams my boss, and I need to be perfect at work until the whole thing blows over so the boss man doesn't fire me for what I said about him.

Yarr, I still play my SNES games when I can, they definitely beat most of the new games coming out.

I haven't tried AoE III yet. And I hate Warcraft for ideological reasons (actually, I don't know why, since it's Starcraft I hated). I didn't like the first AoE too much. Rise of Kings I did, though; I liked having my peons walk through the farms instead of around them. That was such an annoying thing for the programmers to have put in the game, that you can't walk through farms.

I'd been trying to get game emulators. I have one for the SNES; the games I have for it are very limited, and I don't really care to branch out into many more. I tried finding an emulator for the PS2 rather than buy it, but my search proved fruitless. Same is probably going to be true of the Xbox, which I may be buying soon.

I liked AOE I because I didnt have to keep pointing out historical inaccuracies to myself, and I could train a small army of Centurions and wipe out two enemy bases with them if they were used right. There was only one real improvement from the AOE II in the third installment, you could train units up to ten at a time, rifle men could pop out as platoons, cannons would come out as groups of five, as would cavalry, a little more realistic, and you wont be completely screwed if your army is overrun before you can even start a defense. Also, cannons were a nice touch.

Chu: N64 wasnt bad, Goldeneye was an all time classic for first person shooters IMO, and the Zelda games kicked. Also the Dreamcast had some great titles.

Super Mario Kart and Super Mario World would be two of the few games I got for the emulator. Games from the Donkey Kong Country series, and that's pretty much all I played.

Aww, I upset Sol. -puppy eyes- I'm sawwy.

I don't remember AoE II letting you train several units at a time. I remember being able to queue what units I wanted to build, if that's what you mean.

God, AoE was such a goofy game. A friend of mine and I used to play it together religiously. One time--out of the hundreds of times we must've played--stands out. Us preparing for our invasion after hiding behind our massive walls for ages, me breaking my walls down (we did Black Forest map, the walls were usually like 100 thick), and as soon as I charge out, a group of what looked like 20 monks appeared. I screamed some expletive, my friend died of laughter. :(

You couldnt train more than one at a time in AOE II I was saying that was the only thing better about number three.

The best way to counter tweny monks? A couple of onagers, and a company of Centurions. If you still had the game Id show you how its done, but uh, well, my laptop crashes when I am trying to have a battle with more than twenty combatants.

Oh, that's in AoE III. Okay.

Usually, my friend and I would have siege onagers and just blast through the forest rather than scrap our great walls. But I tend to be the Huns so I can get out of building houses, so I doubt I had any at the time. Which meant I had Trebuchets instead. And the unholy army of monk was unleashed upon me, and I was completely flabbergasted.

Oh, your talking about AOE II, right. Well, in that case, leave behind five paladins (Hopefully you had researched fervor sot hat they dould die upon conversion, and run for the hills, circle back around and unleash your cavalry archers, do a couple of hit and runs, and then bring back the rest of your paladins to finish them off.

My favorite strategy in AOE II was to be the british, attack my enemy early one with about ten militia, and then leave them around, moving my base from time to time, until I reached the ultimate defensive position, I would set up castles upon walls upon castles, and train out my pop. limit in Longbowman, fully upgraded those things have the longest range in the game, take out trebuchets and castles in no time, a few volleys would down any army before it reached my stony gates.

More or less. Still a victim of my allergies, but it's been interesting. But I'll be going back to my apartment soon and my dial-up. Ugh.

How was yours?
