Crashing to desktop
Crashing to desktop
I've recently installed VTMB on my computer, and it installed just fine except that I had to put it in
because :C was full. When I finish making my character, it goes to the Emrace screen, fills up the meter on the bottom about 1/4 of the way, and then crashes to desktop. I tried installing the patch but it still does the same thing. As for error messages- this one doesn't have one. Four times it's crashed on me so far, and not one time has an error message occurred. What to do?

Ok, I went through each and every requirement on the bottom of the box and found that my NVIDIA driver only has 32 MB. So, I went to their website and attempted to download a newer, bigger one. Every one I download says I have no system to support it? Huh? I am completely computer illiterate, I didn't even understand half the stuff they were talking about under requirements, and I have no CLUE how to fix this. Can anyone help me?

The drivers you're downloading are probably giving you error messages because they are not the right drivers for your card.
Drivers don't exactly have a 'size' or a number of MB attached to them. Drivers are just software which powers hardware - in this case, your video card. The video card is what has a certain amount of built-in memory (RAM), and it sounds like in your case, your card has 32 MB of RAM, whereas Vampire requires a card with at least 64. If this is indeed the problem, you'll need to get a new video card to play the game.
There may be a crash.log file in your Vampire directory. If you post the contents of it here, we might be able to give a better assessment of the problem. Any system specs you could give (what kind of video card you have, etc.) would help as well.

I have a friend who works with computers who now says he'll come over to look at my computer and the game requirements, since I can't understand what half of them mean, and then give me an assessment on what all I need to make the game run. I feel like such a newb! :speech:

Relax. All creatures are born knowing nothing. However, my guess would be that you need a better video card, so if you've got a few hundred bucks floating around, your computer-savvy friend would be well-employed replacing your existing card with the newer one. To save you long-distance trouble, I'd go with the best you can afford, because in computer games, there is no such thing as 'good enough'. What's good today can be obsolete tomorrow.
