factions that i wish were real
factions that i wish were real
several times while i was plaing through oblvion there came points were i wished i could join such an such a faction. has any one had ideas like that? here's stuff i've thought of
necromancers guild - in direct oposition to mages guild. cant join both. some quests include assasinating a mages guild member who tries to meet with Hassildor, and infiltrating Cheydinhal mages guild to help Falcaar try and convert some of the mages there. Would be fun. As you progress you learn more and more about the arts of undeath. You can cast some deadly spells like raising dead enemies to fight for you etc. rewards may include your own undead slave etc.
the blackwood company-similar to above. basically set up in oposition to fighters guild. cant join both. similar quest, but with a slightly more brutal approach. rewards are basically pwerful weapons/armour.
the black horse courrier - the company needs a hardy adventurer to deliver important packages to somewhat dangerous locations. can become promoted to head of the comapny. quests might range from simply delivering ingredients to an alchemist store, to carrying a secret message from the count of cheydinhal to one of his agents in the imperial city; have to first locate the agent, deal with a few spies trying to get their hands on the package, etc. Rewards focus on helping you get around. e.g your very own Black Horse Corrier Horse, very fast.
the gang from the flowing bowl - i always thought it was a shame that femal characters had to say no to joining this faction. Probabley a short chain of quests where you do a few robberies, escape arrest by Gogan and Maelona, then have to bust the rest of the gang out. stuff like that. The girls can teach you speechcraft/mercantile, and rewards generally help you out in that area, e.g. a skimpy outfit that raises disposition from male NPCs by 20.
vampire faction - as a vampire you are part of a dark society. all brothers and sisters of the night help eachother to survive. This may mean hunting down a dangerous vampire slayer, or other, darker tasks. As you rise in the ranks you learn more about your vampiric abilities. e.g. learn how to turn certain NPCs to vampires, learn basic flight (more like gliding), and shape shifting etc.
might also be nice to see some racial factions. maybe a wood elf faction concerned with protecting the wilds of cyrodill. stuff liek that

I agree
the gang from the flowing bowl I am playing a female character and yes there is no option to join them, what a shame This girls are pretty nice bunch
The ability to join my favorite imperial legion is missing as well Compared to the fighter guild mercenaries, it was a fun to wear this nice uniform in Morrowind.
However, Arena faction is a fun, when you reach your peak it is boringa bit, nice way how to earn the money however.
true. oh i hope they release a mod for some of these.
Some things are being worked on, right now, though I have no details. I'd expect results in a few months--perhaps sooner, depending upon how much free time the modders have.

To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
A little off topic
With regards to the blackwood company. I wish you could hire mercenaries, to aid you in some gates or just along the way. Even if the fighters guild could help, if you could go and get someone to come along with you. With this you could also take it further to where the mercenarie would learn everything you learn in a quest they are with you on. Like on the MQ they could leak out some information, to the wrong people or something like that. You would have to get a merc that you could trust etc. Anyways just one of my ideas.
Sorry if its too far off topic, i just didtn think a new thread on this topic alonw would be worth it.

To buknekkid:
If your already the head of the Dark Brotherhood and the head of the Mage's Guild, then you can get a follower from each to follow you. And if you also have the Wizard's Tower quest done, then you can also summon an Atronoch to follow you for as long as it lives, there is no time limit. Thats about as close as your gonna get to having mercenaries.
Back on topic:
I also wanted to join some of the other factions, it would be cool to be a part of the Blackwater Company for real instead of just pretending to be, and it would also be cool to do Necromancer missions against the Mage's Guild. I guess these will only be dreams...

How does everyone feel about a pirate Guild?
Perhaps nothing extremely organized, just a few ships, rolling into port towns, and occasionally battling other ships, recruitting new sea dogs, etc.?

Sure, playing a necromancer against the MG or Blackwood Company against the FG (or even the city watch against the TG) would be cool. But how about joining the Mythic Dawn? I'm SICK and TIRED of all you heroes and assassins closing my freakin' oblivion gates, dammit!@#$#!!
(tee hee!)

Can the answer to this question be "No"?

After searching for the said "Necromancer Guild" I have found a Mod. I have not tried the Mod myself but could be worth it to some of you.
