Doubts about Power Attacks (Spoiler)

Post by kok_warlock »

So, I got to Expert Blade Skill, and i'm trying for a while with different monsters and humanoids to do the Disarm(left and right) and Knockdown(backwards) Power Attack, but with no success.

I tried a lot, starting with the Disarm, using the strafe buttons e moving to the left and right while doing the power attack, do I need to do a 360º or something or using strafes is the right move? Same goes to Knockdown, I have made the Power Attack backwards quite a few times, it usually screws with my range, but i got it right a lot, and sometimes i do it with a wall behind me so i can't miss, and all of that but so far I have yet to disarm or knockdown an enemy, are those power attacks just near useless until you reach Master for the foward Power Attack, or am I doing something seriously wrong? I'd appreciate some detailed explanation, specially about the use of the 'buttons' and the chances of the attacks actually work.

PS: I'm using the Goldbringer.

It happens very rarely. After 100 hours of playing, I've never disarmed someone, knocked someone down once, and paralysed enemies three times.

I have disarmed a guard in Cheydinhal once, lil bugger still thought he could best me.

They are not completely useless, but I prefer not to waste time on power attacks myself.

Yeah, it's extremelly rare, using the alternate cam, i could see that i was doing it right, and I do it almost every time, I'm not sure but i think i manage to knock down once, but the monster get up so fast that i just don't know, and I paralyzed a couple times.

Very useless those moves.

Apparently ive had better luck with power attacks. I never tried disarming so i dont know about that one but i got knockdowns fairly often and paralysing the same. I think it might have to do with your attributes and the enemy's, because one of the hints says " a high agility will help you to not get knocked down" or whatever it is.

I don't bother with them at all. I have over 100 hours of play, and 100 in blade but nada. So I don't bother.
And He whispered to me in the darkness as we lay together, Tell Me where to touch you so that I can drive you insane; tell Me where to touch you to give you ultimate pleasure, tell Me where to touch you so that we will truly own each other. And I kissed Him softly and whispered back, Touch my mind.

I m very lucky then.

I've tried only a few times to diarm my opponent, but I'm knocking them down like Muhammed Ali

I knock down any opponent that takes more then 5-6 slashes. For exam. if I fight with a ogre I knock him down at least one time in every fight. If I'm fighting a bear at least two times. Human opponents (sometimes vampires) 2-3 at a fight.

I think that this is related by your luck stat and more important you your (weaponskill / lvl) range. beause if your lvl is to high and your melee skill low, your opponent will have a far better melee skill and do this to you intstead of you to him.

Hey Hector, what's the weapon you are using, 1h or 2h? Because i played the entire game with a 1h, and only got 1 knockdown and paralyzed a couple times.

My STR with all the gear is 111, my luck around 60's(I think), agil around 70's.

Maybe it's more useful with a heavier, claymore-like weapon, because disarm and paralyze power attacks i do it all the time, but without managing to disarm or paralyze my opponents.

Hmmm interesting question there. I use 1H shortsword, with STR of 160 and the rest is reasonably high as well. It could be that, but on the other hand wouldn't that be a little biased in a way?

Well, I'm playing with a Breton Warbringer (My twist on the battlemage) and so far, I'm a journeyman in blade. Maybe it's different when you play on computers, but when I play on 360 my disarm works fine. About 1 in 5 hits usually knocks my opponent's stuff out of their hands. And that's with a glass longsword. (This charrie's new, only level 16. )
I know everything about Morrowind.

Everything.

Well, I decided to try the Power Attacks with a Claymore(2H Weapon), and well, now disarms and knockdowns have like a 20% success rate, Paralyze is still rare, and I try it every fight, i guess it makes more sense you been more capable of knocking down someone using a heavy, and massive weapon, instead of a small one like a shortsword.

In my 130+ hours I've been able to disarm one guy, in the arena.Knockdowns happen at an ok rate, and I paralyze about half the people I try, which is everyone I fight.
Still, considering my blade at 100, my strength at 120, and my agil at 65 or so I wanna knock them down everytime.

for my character it depended on the sword (claymore of brittleness) that got me knockdowns quite often, luck and strength, i think weight of the blade might also affect?
