Order of mods to work right (or good at least)

Post by JonIrenicus »

*Look at the picture attached*

Minor before major I know that but in what order should I install these to make them all compatiable with each other. I installed them wrong last time and I hate having to install them over again.

P.S. Any other really good mods beside the ones I already have?

A question asked multiple times. I fear fable will close this thread when he sees it.

I would tell you to do a search, but apparently the search function seems to be having some troubles. I wanted to link you to a former thread, but I can't find it.

So, from the top of my head, here is the general layout:
-Game
-Official patches and Baldurdasg Fixpack
-Non-WeiDU mods.
-WeiDU mods.

A more precise list, although I'm not sure it would work:
*Ascension
*G3Tweaks
*PnPCelestials
*NPCTweak
*Solafein
*Valen
*Underrepresented
*Ashes of Embers
*Oversight
*Flirt
*Kelsey
*Virtue
*Tactics
*EaseofUse (with multiple strongholds and other nifty components)
*DOQuestpack

As for your multiple strongholds mod, I would advice you to use Weimer's EaseOfUse mod instead, since it's a WeiDu mod as well.

I'll let this one stand, if we can make it definitive, because there's no other thread to title search on ordering mods.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Perhaps may want to consider pinning this thread.
Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocre minds. The latter cannot understand it when a person does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses their intelligence.

We're not on Pocket Plane, and it would be useful to have that information here, as well. So I'll leave this open, in the hopes people will add appropriately to it.

Well it's kind of double posting then

but the creater of this thread is also pretty vague about the mods.

you want all working mods in one game or just want to try out new things?

there are alot of different mods for bg. the question is what do you prefer

you want the game to be more challenging?

you want to the game to be doable (ease of use)

you want new NPC?

new content?

new story lines?

etc etc it's better to give a good mod list for oresented type of gameplay instead of going some random mods if you ask me (this is just a suggestion)

Yeah I was pretty vague, it was pretty late when I was posting. I want to play all these mods at the same time.

I want Ascension, ashesofembers, doquestpack, G3 tweaks, kelsey SOA/TOB, NPC tweak, NPC flirt, Oversight, Pnpcelestials, virtue, weimersolaufein, weimer underrep, weimervalen(these are mods I personally picked and read up on each). I have most up-to-date everything so don't worry about that.

Mod wise: I don't use any cheese, I'm not looking for anything to make the game easier, I am looking for more fun with npcs and harder mops (NOT tactics), and lil story can't hurt.

As we aren't a sub-site of Pocket Plane, it isn't. Now if you want to continue this argument, feel free to send me a personal message, but I don't think we're going to convince each other of our respective arguments.

JonIrenicus, you might want to check out this thread. I wanted to run some of the same things you did, and got some ideas for mod ordering at that time.

well sorry then Fable

anyway if you want some story too irenicus
then i suggest you install unfinished business too, great mod

anyway before doing any mods
I would suggest you install all patches first
make a copy of the override folder

then install baldursdash
then any mods u want

but be sure to install the mods in the correct order
[non weidu] and weidu. can't remember in which order though sry
long time since i played bg2

and make sure mods don't overlap eachother
e.a) both changing and area or chapter for example that could mess up things

problems

Well KelseyNPC_v21 and WeimerSolaufein_v102 seem to be comflicting and they shouldnt. I installed kelsey soa then solaufein and finally kelsey tob if that helps. The rest of the mods are working fine though.

First Sola, then kelsey. Why such a strange order (KSoA-Sola-KToB)?

Sola is way older than kelsey, plus kelsey needs sola to be installed first due to several components.

@ Sytze, I installed them in your recomended order and every mod worked smoothly until I installed DOQuestpack and when i started up bgii I couldn't see anything but the music worked. Lucky I saved a back-up right before that.
